Why can't I update FB

When I try to update FB through my apps it says unable to update at this time. I'm updating like I always have so I don't know if it is me or a wide spread problem.

I just did a FB update on my iPhone. Sometimes when an app update won’t start I need to clear memory on my device...do a restart (or shut-down and start).  This usually does the trick for me.

I know that when my devices are a few years old, it will no longer take an update for certain apps.

Phone did an automatic update.  After it did, my iPad would allow the update. Pretty sneaky.  Thanks for your help.  I have an iPhone 6 which I seldom use. Guess it was letting me know who is in control.
