Re: TP-Link AC2600 Smart WiFi Router Archer A10

When I moved into my apartment 5 years ago, I purchased a Netgear router.  After 3 years it started acting up....I called their service number, and it was a nightmare.  The service number was located in a foreign country and I couldn't understand the tech person...he barely spoke English and had such a heavy accent I couldn't make out his directions on what to do.  And the man was getting frustrated with me because I couldn't understand him.

After a totally wasted and frustrating hour, I was in tears and gave up.  Called Spectrum and (still crying lol!) told them I needed a router.  The person was so nice....he said they took care of all updates, and if it needed replacing they would do it.  Well worth $5 a month to me!

I hope this post doesn't discourage others from getting their own equipment.  It's not difficult to set up a modem or router.

Most, if not all, routers have a factory set name and password you can find on the router.  After the router is plugged in, you'll need to reconnect all of your devices.   When the list of networks appears, select yours then enter the password.  Instructions for how to connect your particular device can be found in the instruction manual or online.

As posted, you need to find out which modem is compatible with your cable systemI did a search for a list of compatible modems for Comcast then bought one.

Call me lazy but, I didn't want to reconnect all of my devices so, I got into the router settings and changed the default name and password for my new router to what I had been using.   By changing that, everything connected automatically.
