Re: SECURITY PROBLEM with Temu attaching to senders names in your text messages app

I avoid Temu and I'm disappointed that Publix is using them for ads.  I assume it's Publix and not Boarshead since it says that particular product is only available at Publix.

@Icegoddess @It is totally unrelated to Publix. What you're seeing is my text messages screen for messages I send and receive from my friend. The previous real message I sent her was to tell her to try Boarshead Hummus. That was a day ago. It's my copy of the real text I sent to her.

When I tried to text her today, the TEMU add went to my iPad without her sending it. It attached itself to her contact name, VF, and sent itself to me. It originally started when she received the ad from her niece. She didn't even know this ad was attached to her.

TEMU is going way too far out of their allowed boundaries if they are hacking into our text messages.
That is a "no" from me...thank you for posting about this problem.

I have never purchased from them. On Pinterest TEMU has a small orange emblem and so does Amazon

OH NO!

@LTT1 @I wish I had a screenshot of the original screen showing this tiny thing hanging off my friend's initials. I had no idea what it was and didn't screenshot then. The little tag disappeared after I pressed on my friend's initials to send her a text.

Re: SECURITY PROBLEM with Temu attaching to senders names in your text messages app

@Mindy D I understand.  I just thought that was the ad Temu sent you.  I was wondering why Temu would send an ad to anything besides their own stuff. So, Publix is back on my good list.  Temu is still on my bad list.

@Mindy D   I have posted about Temu before and what a security and privacy risk they are.  I don't care how cheap or good their stuff is, it ain't worth it.

Re: SECURITY PROBLEM with Temu attaching to senders names in your text messages app

"called my friend and her niece had sent her the ad, it just latched onto her and will go to everyone like a chain letter"

This could be the key.  Get her off all your devices, including contacts and cc messages.  She needs to clean her devices as does her niece.

A couple of years ago one of my board rosters was hacked and I am still getting a couple of scams from that.

@Pezzie

Cheap, yes. Good quality? No!

I don't have their app and I made my purchase on my desktop computer that has anti-spy-wear / malware installed and anti adware.  Once I returned the two shirts I bought, I will also block any emails I might get from them.

Huh ....  Your comments are a surprise.

I thought Temu was a scam site that put viruses on devices and was to be avoided at all costs .... same as Tik Tok.

Re: SECURITY PROBLEM with Temu attaching to senders names in your text messages app

So even if you've never bought from Temu or clicked on their ads, they glom onto you from people who have?  So opening their texts lets Temu in?
