HP computer laptops and features

Noticed that the Q is featuring a HP laptop under $400.  All features look good to me BUT no real information is being given on Office 365.  It is offered and part of the deal but I am weary of add ons after they expire.  No real info is being given at any presentation.  Hidden costs after the fact?  Hate to buy only to find out my Labtop is useless without the special features offered.  QVC should be more informative.  I even called twice and no one really could answer the after costs.  Told me to call Microsoft.  Strange.

Re: HP computer laptops and features

DH and I just bought an HP for under $400 from Amazon. We just wanted something with enough RAM to run various programs we might use occasionally and something our young teen grandkids ( who live with us during school year) can use for middle school and HS projects. We all use tablets routinely. I like buying this type of electronics from Amazon as I can easily compare across brands and models and tere are always tons of reviews. Shipping and returns are also free; personally I wouldn't buy laptops or TVs from a shopping channel. This computer was also offered with 6 payments, no interest ( nice right after holidays).

Re: HP computer laptops and features

I purchased an HP laptop from QVC about a year and a half ago.  I thought it was a really good deal and enjoyed using it for a while and then the problems started.  I finally called HP support and found out that HP has three tiers of computers and the one I have is the lowest.  His suggestion was for me to add more GB's since my laptop only had 4GB.  I added more through a local tech person and it's running better.  The old saying is true "you get what you pay for!"

What's the item number?  I see two HP laptops under $400, but neither says anything about Office.  If they're giving you a trial of Office, the actual program cost afterward would range from $100 to $200.  Office is Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.  are those programs ones you'd use?

I was browsing an inexpensive HP laptop on HSN during the holidays. Pricepoint was under $400.

I thought good price for what you get BUT the unit did not operate at all without an active version of MS Office.

Once your free trial ends if you don't subscribe and pay for Office, the unit is held hostage until you pony up that credit card. Month after month, year after year.

Do you really think Microsoft is going to give you a free version of office for life?

JMH0, Ms Office needs 8GB of (memory) RAM to run. A laptop with 4GB of RAM will not run Office well.

Please go to your favorite big box membership store and ask someone to help you.

You can look for 8GB of RAM, 1920X1080

display and Wi-Fi 6.

If you go to the Microsoft site, they will have pricing and options for after the one year mark on the offer.

They did used to have a lifetime purchase but I think that is over and gone.  So we pay.

I would never buy a computer from QVC or HSN. They package it with useless software and limited free trials. I will only buy in person at a store locally. You are not getting a deal.

I have purchased most of my tech products online from a manufacturer. I don't go into a store.
