It's not against the law in your state to use a cell phone while driving?
I have no idea. I've only made a couple of calls since I got the fone for Christmas, and those calls were made IN THE HOUSE, for "practice". Honestly, I don't enjoy talking on the phone-period. As an adult, I never have.
Anyway, regarding your question, ...
IF using a cell ph. while driving is against the law in my state, I'd say 99% of the peeps IGNORE the law.

If you're hired as an independent contractor, it would actually be unusual for the employer to pay for your technology gadgets, as well as many other itemized expenses.
For those who asked:
Yes, it's an "independent contractor" for Am*zon. I can deliver packages and pick my own 2 hour window. $18-$25/hr.
This is perfect for me because my little dog can stay with me -- even on hot summer days with the A/C on.
Honestly, tho', this cell phone stuff makes me feel like an idiot.
LOL!
When they figure out how old I am, they'll prolly turn me down.
Oh well, ... nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Okay, that makes more sense. Did the ad list any other qualifications? I get things delivered from Amazon Prime frequently and some of the orders can be heavy and the delivery person has to walk up a flight of stairs to get to my floor. So just a heads up, if it's for Amazon Prime, you might end up carrying heavy paper grocery bags up several flights of stairs.
I know my old job listing said we had to be able to carry 50 pounds and wear closed-toe shoes because we often had to carry HUGE and heavy books and computer equipment from room to room.

I hope none of us even glance at our cell phone when driving, whether it's a law or not. Somewhere along the way we (as a society) seemed to have gotten the notion that we have to be "in touch" via phone 24/7... and, also, we forgot that driving a car requires our dedicated attention. Distracted driving is deadly.![]()

No kidding. A young man with a bright future was mowed down by a girl downloading a ringtone while driving. I thought she should have been charged with vehicular manslaughter but no such luck. She got a slap on the wrist. Terrible.

Yeah, I thought so too. Two hours, Sat & Sun? No problem!! Over a few weeks, I kept going to Indeed dot com, thinking I'd be a fool not to apply for this. Anyway, it didn't work out for me. I didn't feel comfortable with the process. Everything is done via email. (Okay, I know! It's AMZ, so, of course, everything is done via e-media.) You have to watch videos THAT DON'T WORK, then go to an information session where you can't hear anything.
It's very poorly organized. It just made me feel uncomfortable.
BTW, you're probably not reimbursed for gas, which might be why the hourly is so high.
If you google Am@zon-flex, you'll see it.

That might be your experience but, I doubt it's the norm. You stated you aren't tech savvy and I'm sure that's the problem not Amazon. Good luck finding a job better suited to your skill level.

@Boehm Collector, from my own work experience, my former employer encouraged employees to use iPhones for office-related work because the firm supported iPhone technology and could assist with any tech problems that might arise. I chose to go with the iPhone, and the company paid for it. If I had chosen an Android and experienced problems, I might be up a tree. Here's a caveat though...if you use your personal phone for work emails, work calendaring, work texting, and the company finds itself in some kind of legal dispute or litigation, your personal phone could be taken for evidence. Our tech director discouraged employees from using their personal phones for work for that very reason.
