I think I know the answer to my question I just want to make sure. I have a Verizon router and feel I'm having some connectivity issues. I have HULU Live tv and sometimes the picture goes out for a few seconds, freezes, pixelates, and today I got thrown off and had to sign on again. Everything is good when I'm on Netflix or watching streaming from HULU it's only the live part I have trouble with. If I reboot it's only a matter of unplugging and then plugging in the router I won't lose the router name and password that would be if I were resetting the router? Does the issue lie with HULU and not my connection?

I have Hulu Live and have the same issues. Don't have Netflix. You can reboot the router. Nothing will get lost. When we had Centurylink we constantly had to reboot the router. Did it fix Hulu? Nope. I now have Cox Gigablast and still have the same issue but not as often nor as long.

Smart tv and/or a streaming device? we have similar issue with spectrum, but only on reg. tv. We just go to different tv if we want to watch.

Re: Rebooting Your Router

[ Edited ]

If the problem happens with only one streaming network then it's most likely not a router (hardware) issue.

Try using a different TV and if the problem is the same then blame Hulu. Nothing you can do from there except complain to Hulu.

Rebooting the router is done by unplugging the power cord to the router either from the back of the router itself or from the electrical wall outlet. Wait 15 seconds and then plug it back in. Rebooting takes a couple of minutes and that will update the router software and clear unnecessary data which has accumulated inside the router over time (not good data but bad kind that can come with security issues to your network). Rebooting should not affect stored passwords.

@10sluvr   We stream using the spectrum app.   There are issues with their app, the technican told me when he was at the house this week.  We get the spinning blue circle more than we should and per Spectrums advice we deleted and reinstalled their app.  It helped a little but we still get that darn spinning blue circle.

You would think if they KNOW it is not a great app they could fix it.

You'd like to think that, but modern apps are often huge. A basic app might have 50,000 lines of code. Google Chrome (the browser) Uses 6.7 million lines of code. A Chevy Volt (the electric car) uses over ten million lines of code. Finding and fixing glitches in modern apps can be very, very challenging. It often takes a large team weeks/months to isolate a problem and find a fix. And many companies hire an outside firm to create the app for them and once it's created and they accept it, they have to pay again to get it fixed. "Why don't they fix it?" They may be weeks/months into trying to fix it and just can't figure out the issue or a way around it yet.

I rebooted my router today, I'm still having the same issues. The problem has to be with HULU, I either have to live with it or switch to YOUTUBE TV (live).

So rebooting my router didn't help my problem. Should I clear the cache for my HULU app which I get through a Firestick, what exactly does it do, would I lose programs I have recorded or lose my password, is it worth it? Also how do you know if your app is up to date, I know how to access the App Store but didn't see any prompt to update so I assume it's the latest version?

Yes .... unplug ..... wait a few minutes ..... replug.

A couple of times a year there will be a few days when I have to reboot every so often.   It has something to do with the satellite .... according to my provider.

@Jordan2

Go to your TV Menu and look for Support. Then select Software and Update. Your Hulu app might need to be uninstalled /installed to help resolve streaming issues.
