@SilleeMee, I just purchased this in black. Now that we are BFFs I feel I can tell you I am not a techie! I have a question, how exactly do I use a SD card to expand my storage? Can I get a 256GB card? Also what kind of case do we get with this, is it one of the cases that puts your tablet in sleep mode and wakes when you open it?TIA

Oh I'm happy for you @Jordan2
.I am not a techie either! But to answer one of your questions...yes, you can expand it to 256G. I think it just goes in a slot on the side of the tablet but since I don't own one maybe @patbz can give you some help with this part. As far as the case goes, click on the link on the product page and it shows you what it looks like. Amazon gives more details about the 'Caseable Fire 10 HD Cover'.

You can expand it to 256gb. The spot is on the edge and very easy to use. If and when you remove the chip, call Amazon help ( there are minor precautions to doing that). Their tech helpers are great. I didn't get my ten inch from QVC (but rather from Amazon); mine puts tablet to sleep and wakes it. I strongly advise you get a screen protector from Amazon (if you drop your tablet it may save your screen).

@patbz, thank you so much for your reply!

I got a new 10 on Black Friday and I LOVE it!!!! It is awesome. I have most of the older models including both the 7" HDX and the 9" HDX. This one looks every bit as good as them and a tad bit bigger.
Con: I think it is defective. I received it on Sunday (believe it or not). After I got it set up, the light flashed from bright to dim off and on for no reason. Monday it flashed too. Yesterday it worked perfect. This morning it flashed again off and on. This afternoon it worked perfect. I think I need to send it back for replacement. I hate to go without it even for a couple days!

Just be advised the expansion card is mostly used for photos, music, and things you downloaded and not for apps. You can move part of some apps to the card, but not the whole app in most cases. And 256 gb micro SD cards are not favorably priced these days. The sweet spot on micro SD cards right now is more in the 32-64 gb range where you can get them for $10 and up. ($20 and up for the 64 GB guys.) The 256 gb micro SD cards tend to be over $100, and often well over $100. Unless you really need to carry around a lot of photos, music, etc. you can probably get by just fine with a 32-64 gb card.

ETA: Of course Amazon doesn't like to see people doing this and they might be working on a way to prevent it in the future. But for now the hacking continues.
I would not try it just yet.... but, maybe somewhere down the line the application for google on fire tablets will be on fire tablets. That would be nice.

I would be happy if they brought back the underground application. I do not like or trust memberships of any kind. JMHO.

@gardenman wrote:Technically, adding the Google Play store on a Fire tablet isn't hacking. Fire tablets let you install other software on them. You just have to tweak a few settings that Amazon lets you change. Then you have to install the Google Play Store software components and you're in business. Will there be hiccups? Possibly. I haven't done it as I'm pretty happy with the apps in the Amazon app store, but if you want more apps, you can give it a try. There are roughly a million tutorials on how to do it.
It is much more then that... I saw on youtube that you can ruin the device if you hack into it. And it is hacking no matter how you sugar coat it.![]()

I have brought Samsung galaxy tablets since 2014. I own a few S2 tablets.
Amazon has them on sale sometimes. A good price is $100 below list. I usually buy the 8 " product. The tablet have two numbers T713 or T813.
