Thanks for the advice, Glb! I'm sure you're right. I need to learn how to change the format, as that is something I've never done.
At this point I have several computers with MS Works on them but it's best to plan ahead. ![]()
A lot of the MOST important stuff I have printed, as well as having them saved in several places.

Office 365 is for mobile and collaborative work. It's for companies or workers who need to be able to access and edit documents from anywhere and on any device - laptop, desktop, tablet or smartphone. It's for people who need to be able to put their files into the cloud so they can share them with others and for people who need to collaborate with team members in various locations. If you don't need to do that, you don't need Office 365.

My parents got into computers long before anyone else including me. My mother used 2 DOS programs, Professional Write (word processing) and Professional File (data base) for her genealogy. We tried to get her to convert her files to Word or Family Tree maker and she refused. She did print out the results and even published several books. With that being said, all of the computer files were unreadable since none of us could either install or use the program that created them.
My dad did the same thing but he used a DOS based genealogy program. I was lucky to find the author, sent him the files and he converted them to word files. Having your data saved as Work files may end up like my parent's data. There are programs that will convert Works documents to Word or PDF files.

Oh wow! You were very fortunate that you were able to find somebody who could convert them!
I am making a note to find out about programs to convert docs to Word or PDF. Thanks!
