Ipad2 won't update to ios 11 anyway

So turn passcode off in settings.

@jaxs mom I did.  You misunderstand.  My work email that I have connected to my Outlook won’t load now unless I have the passcode turned ON.  This is something new with this update.

can you use the fingerprint instead

My biggest complaints are that my phone and ipad are running slower, and that I have to put in a passcode in order to be able to read my email on the outlook app.  I don't use apple pay or have anything on my devices that I care about people seeing, so I don't like to have to take the extra step to enter a passcode when I awaken my device.

I read an article about the running slower and more battery and the takeaway is this

your phone is calculating all sorts of stuff in the background and re-arranging things with the updated os and it takes a few days to settle in.

turned out to be true.

the day after my update my battery use was crazy now it's back to normal.

btw   using a pass code is a good idea, if you loose your phone you are SOL,

try using the fingerprint  much quicker

Hi @jackthebear! I also love the idea of fingerprint ID in principle BUT my fingerprints don’t last long enough to make that solution practical for me.

The last time I got a new phone I wound up locked out and only by the grace of remembering my 6 digit passcode did I get back in.

I’m wondering how long the facial memory feature can preserve its memory?

Face it tech likes to stay cutting edge, they have no interest in just same old same old.

Oddly enough Microsoft has decided Windows 10 is the final version of Windows. Any and all changes wil be made within the Windows 10 framework and there won't be any significant changes to how it works, looks, or functions. They've heard the many, many complaints about having to learn a whole new operating system every few years and they've moved to  what they're calling an environment model where the basic OS stays the same with tweaks here and there as needed, but no major redesign requiring major adjustments. It's a clever move on their part.

As to any app incompatibility being the fault of the app developer since they had the beta for several months, it's good to remember that was the beta the could test the app on and not the final product. It's entirely possible the app worked fine on the beta version but then Apple tweaked something in the final version that caused an incompatibility. Very rarely is the beta version the absolute final version that reaches consumers. Problems arise in the beta that are then patched in the final version and if one of those patches knocks out an app, oh well, those things happen.

Well I do not know if it will or not?... I got the update on my Ipad and I will not take the chance it sounds like a nightmare to me. My husband has the pro and will not update.

@gardenman, I think sticking with Windows10 is a good idea for Microsoft. After the mess they had with 8 (was it 8?), I think they lost customers to Apple.  I made the switch and don't intend to go back.  LM

I agree. It's a clever strategy. They make small changes here and there as they upgrade the OS but nothing drastic and it keeps the customers happy. I've only been using Windows 10 for about six months, but I've had no issues with it.

This is ALWAYS a personal decision, but I’ve found some amazing fun things in 11.0.2.

The new app update page is nifty, and the change in the typing keyboard works pretty well for me after practicing it a bit.

I’m glad I upgraded!

I don't understand how the fingerprint can't last...

as for the passcode I have a note book where I keep all that stuff written down
