A friend gave me info on a local computer shop to call today. Was also suggested to replace battery and have this for my emergency tablet and purchase another tablet. I was concerned about learning how to use another product.

Yes, I would not attempt to replace the battery myself just putting out the price of the kit. Not sure of the value of putting money into fixing the Galaxy and then buying another new tablet.

We have the original iPad, my iPad 2, my daughters iPad 2 which I think she bought used from Apple none of which has had any issues at all. I am very pro iPad and iPhone.

Extremely easy to use.

See how much it is to get this repaired at the local shop then decide, that is what I would do, and how much you want to spend.

I agree with this. A few months ago I cracked the screen on my iPhone. I took it to a local cell phone repair place and they fixed the screen - they also offered a discount on a battery replacement while the phone was open. I declined because my battery was fine, but I know that this is one of many places will replace batteries on phones and tablets. local repairs usually costs less than sending it in to the manufacturer to be replaced and is much faster. The local shop repaired my phone in an hour and they had a pretty steady stream of customers coming in for similar repairs. I found my place online and checked review sites before making an appointment.

Re: How to determine if I need to repair or purchase another tablet?

I appreciate everyone taking the time to reply. I did not have another adapter or charging cable to try. I removed some apps and changed the brightness on the tablet. I charged overnight and had a better percentage of charge. In my area the computer shops that I checked would not change the battery. The one shop that works on computers and tablets told me to purchase another tablet. DH watched the youtube info on changing the battery. He said he would do this. We ordered the battery kit and new charging cables. I pray this will work. This month has been expensive for household repairs and I will need to save money for another tablet. The extended warranty on the tablet expired at two years and did not cover the battery. I will be doing a lot of research on tablets and what the warranty covers. Thanks again, Southern Bee

Re: How to determine if I need to repair or purchase another tablet?

I heard buying refurbished apple computers and tablets are great, they replace everything so they are like new at half the price. My Samgung galaxy tab 2 wouldn't turn off anymore...so i let it die. I rarely use it anymore, i have a 17 inch laptop and a 12.5 inch laptop, along with the Galaxy Note 4 phone. No need for it.

Hi Rabid. I'm curious as to where your statistics about Apple products came from. I'd like to read them. Also, Refurbished Apple equipment is sold at less than retail, but I've never seen it at half price.

OP, please post back after DH installs your new battery. Hope it all works great again. It would be awful to have to replace after only 2 years....

Re: How to determine if I need to repair or purchase another tablet?

Well: the replacement battery install did not work. No sound and nothing on the screen. Dh rechecked everything. Trying to research on computer and my neck is stiff and in pain. DH wanted me to look at the ipads and find the best possible price. The mini is small for my eyes. Trying to determine what is best for me. very tired and confused. I appreciate all the help and suggestions. Thank you, Southern Bee

I would never buy an iPad mini. It's too small. I have a hard enough time looking at the iPad screen.

It might not be the battery but the LCD. The upside, should you choose to look at it that way, is you can get your money back from the replacement by selling the tablet as is/broken with both batteries on e-bay. Even broken HP Touchpads can get $50 and up.
