Go into settings, Messages:   send and receive and uncheck your phone number.

...so doing that will just delete the messages but not the ability for my contacts to message me?

@gidgetgh  Yes, text messages.

@Mom2Dogs - you have to delete them on each device.  I have an iPhone, MacBook Air and iPad and always have to delete them on each.  No way to do a sweeping delete.....that I know of.

You can sync all of your devices so this can be done. I have three macs, five ipads and an iPhone. It is in your settings.

When I delete a text or email from one device it removes it from all devices automatically.

Your contacts will still be able to contact you. You are not blocking them.

I have deleted a persons name in the panel, which of course deletes the entire conversation (s) as well as their name on the list that I frequently contact..is that what you mean?

What exactly are you trying to do?

You can specify favorites which stay in that list. Apple is very customizable. I have all of my devices mirror each other. All of my desktops are the same. The only thing different is my background photos. If I delete something on one it deletes them on all of them. I have five emails set up on all my devic, and one device, I have a sixth email address on that device only. You can customize everything for the most part.  The point is I have it set up that way. Google is your friend but everything works through the Cloud.

Thanks..I think favorites is available thru the IPhone App...which I don't use...I need to do some additional reading on my issue so that I can understand better.   Thanks for your help.

Re: Help with Phone and MacBook Air

@Mom2Dogs

Your disk is almost full.  Save space by optimizing storage.

I use my MacBook for work, so I did have a lot of downloads and other work related material so I have gone thru and deleted a lot of files but still continue to get the message.

How large is your HD & how much storage space do you have left?

Apple>About This Mac>Storage

Files that take up the most storage are movies, videos & music.  What type of files did you delete?

Open App Store in your Dock.  Type utilities in the search field.  Download the FREE app called Disk Space Analyzer:  Inspector.  This utility will SHOW you which files on your HD are taking up storage space.

@Mz iMac   I have deleted what I do not need, and am still getting the message.

I recall I had this problem a few years ago and called Apple, the tech did not know why it was happening but did help me fix the issue at that time.

I will download the app you mentioned and see what I can do, thank you.

Also, I do not have any music, movies or videos on my mac.  Only emails, work files and text messages.

This often happens when people have limited hard drive space.  It happened to one of Apple devices and I restore it.  I made a backup, purged the device then reinstlled from the backup.  It worked like new.

@Mz iMac I think I got the issue fixed, thank you.

I am going to make an appt. at the Genusis Bar at my local Apple store.  I have several questions that need answered for me to understand things better...I am a slow learner, but like to understand how things work.

Trying to make an appt at the genius bar is ridiculous..automated reply.  I got a text message to set up the appointment, but there is NO WHERE on the site to set up an appointment.  You cannot talk to a human.   I will have to stop in and try to make an appointment in person.
