@HerRoyaLioness@Gokat@Marp@ChynnaBlue@chickenbutt
This morning I am getting a notice in the tray that says "New Updates Available." So, I can keep up with updates and knowing which ones to choose this way.
Does anybody else have this option?

The above post was meant for @HerRoyaLioness , but I forgot to include her nic (problems with the menu here).
I have no doubt that many are experiencing this forced install as MS sent out the latest updates just a short time ago and they included the mislabeled optional updates responsible.

Yes, @LTT1 , if you selected "Check for updates but let me decide whether to download and install them." in Update Settings, this is how you're notified with Win 7. You can go ahead and install the updates when you're ready. The GWX app will block the optional mislabeled updates responsible for the forced Win 10 install for you. HTH's![]()

Lioness - I have the feeling that you don't want to hear from me, but this has been on my mind so I wanted to tell you that I did not mean to attack you.
I was trying to help and my style might not be as sugary sweet as some, but I truly do not ever try to upset anybody with my 'help'. I tend to not be very flowery in my speech. I get right to the point of explaining things.
I thought what I said in that post would be not only helpful to you, but to others having this sort of problem, or a lack of knowledge about updates and maintenance.
These questions come up here a lot. This thing with MS forcing the Win10 upgrade on people has been going on for months so you can see my frustration. I imagined that people who have computers and have concern about this have been seeing the complaints and problems that others have had.
Again, I am sorry because I TRULY did not mean to attack you. You can know this is true because I don't say things that are not true. You don't know me, so I can understand that you wouldn't know that, but - well, it's true.
l know - I'm silly. But I really love helping out when I think I have something to offer and that is honestly all it is.

@chickenbutt, thank you for explaining that a little further. I was thinking yikes, she doesn't even know me and I'm getting a good scolding about all this! I guess I hit a sore spot with this subject already being discussed, which I did briefly look to see if there was a thread on it. But I initially just wanted to know what was going on with my computer.
I actually prefer it when people are direct with me, if they try and be too nice or tactful, I sometimes miss the point. I did appreciate your first information and I am determined to be more educated with my computer, you're absolutely right about that.
So, no harm done, I'm surviving this attack, but I have to wonder in world we live in today, what's next??!!!
Thanks again for your explanation, I appreciate that.

Aww, thank you so much. I felt bad because I don't want to upset or anger anybody. I guess I am a bit too direct and have vowed to work on that a little bit.
I just want the information to stand out and I'm a very clinical, non-emotional thinker. Now, there's my husband who emotionalizes EVERYTHING and he's so sensitive that I'm often having to explain that I was just trying to help, etc, and there is nothing there to personalize. BUT, he knows me and you don't so it is very underatandable. ![]()
I hope you are either able to work with Win10 and your other things are compatible, etc, or if you decided to go back and uninstall it, that things go well.
I highly recommend that software that Gokat recommended in this forum. It will preclude ALL of that Win10 stuff. It's just a very small program and free (unless you want to donate. I sent him some $ today), and is supposed to completely disallow any if that Win10 stuff from getting through.
Also, be sure to put it in 'Monitor' mode if you do. Happy day!

Ok, didn't want the Windows 10, so removed it,with many warnings from Microsoft about what might happen when re-installing Windows 7.
One of the first things I noticed was that my Outlook E-mail is going crazy and appears to be re-loading all my e-mails from since the account was opened, which was years ago. I can't delete them as fast as they are loading and they are all duplicates. Some I had saved, so now I have the saved and the duplicate. Does anyone know what to do with this??!!!
I did also download the app from GWX Control Panel, thanks to those who recommended it.

Not knowing anything about your setup and history as related to your computer, @HerRoyaLioness , I'm going to take a stab and recommend that you first check your Server settings in Outlook Express to be sure they weren't changed....POP3, SMTP, etc. Those should be under Accounts in Outlook Express...and then select Options. There should be a tab Servers.
Because Outlook Express isn't the actual server, it looks like another setting may have been changed as well. I use Windows Live Email and I believe they're similar. If you click on Accounts from your Outlook Express menu there should be a "Properties" option. Click on that. The Advanced tab should list "Delivery" Under that check "Leave a copy of messages on server" and also "Remove from server after 5 days".
It sounds like the duplication is happening because these items were unchecked in all the install/uninstall mess.
I don't know what you want to do with all the duplicate emails, but here's a link on how to delete them all from your inbox, if that's what you're wanting. HTH's

Now that you've uninstalled Win 10, I'll make another suggestion based on my own experience. Run CC Cleaner (freebie) and also run the Registration cleaner within the program. My laptop slowed down measurably even after uninstalling Win 10. Running those two scans speeded it back up. ![]()

@Gokat@chickenbutt@HerRoyaLioness
Running version 1.4.5.1 most current
Windows is overriding my settings! Hacked?
I keep trying to catch it before WIN10 downloads

Totally off topic but, why would QVC want to delete this very helpful thread?![]()
