Thanks. But still not up and running. HP cs says they need to install drive and charge me. Qvc gave me another tech support number . I called but had to hang up but not before hearing about a Passcode Is this something new bc I have owned many computers plugged them in and off to the world web. I went. Why is this different. I don't know everything but I have hooked about 7 computers to the internet. This is concerning.

I would send this computer back to QVC. You should look for a computer in a local store. I like the Toshiba Blue Label machines sold at Best Buy. BB has credit terms.

I have a Windows 8 computer, a wireless network and not a bit of trouble connecting to my wireless network. It's a small Dell (11 inch) and connected on the first try. So, you either entered the incorrect security key number or there is a problem with the network adapter.
If I have a hardware problem, I get into the device manager, uninstall it then reboot. Windows will find the hardware and reinstall it. If that doesn't work, I try new drivers if available. If that doesn't work, chances are the hardware has failed. Not having a yellow exclamation point doesn't mean all is well.

Have you tried calling your internet provider for assistance? When I got my Dell laptop from QVC with Windows 8.1, I was able to connect to the internet, however, within a minute or so I would get disconnected and my router would have to be reset.
I called Time Warner who is my internet provider and they came out the next morning to check my cable/internet signal in my home. Turns out they had to replace all the wiring outside coming to my house as well as the wiring inside my house because our cable/internet signal was not strong enough. They also installed a new wireless modem/router.
The technician that came out explained to me that we had a bad signal coming to our house, but didn't notice it because everything was still working. He explained that Windows 8 requires a stronger signal because of all of the live tiles that are constantly updating. So basically he said we already had a service issue that we weren't aware of and the Windows 8 is what pushed it to the limit to where we were actually experiencing a problem.
We have not experienced any problems since. Our cable tv is also working much better now without any occasional pixel distortions.

Thanks everyone. I have made my decision to send back. We've ha comcast for years. Comcast was just out here the other day updating us.all other online electronics are working dandy. I think it's this computer. Just to let others know when I spoke to Hewlett they confirmed to me this same problem and I thanked them for their honesty. Hewlett said they have getting multiple calls about this connectivity problem. I don't want to risk keeping for 30 days and losing my money. THANKS. I better stick with ACER and APPLE

I was right. My secret is that I also bought a Hewlett touchscreen from hsn a few days later special value. Same specs 15in but touch screen and with longer battery life. Just I said before that I plugged in and with a couple more steps itfound my internet and off to the www we were.Took minutes. SO either qvc got lemons with last yrs model, could have been a rush job . But it's going back. Never doubt yourself . BEWARE of this computer. Do not try to fix . Send back.
