Free Upgrade from Windows 8 to 10?

Did U do the "free" upgrade from Windows 8 to 10 and regret it?

Any "bugs"?

Re: Free Upgrade from Windows 8 to 10?

@RinaRina---I installed and deeply regret it.  After hearing how easy, wonderful, "you set it to your liking".  NOPE!!!!!!!!!

 I do not do online banking, or drawing stuff. You know things that make your life easier.  I read the news, have 2 discussion boards that I am on, and play games.  The games are just the little games,  WARCRAFT,etc. Multiplayer games, just things like mahjong, hidden objects, that stuff.

  Since windows10, I was kicked out of a paid membership gamesite and can't get back, because I don't have FLASH or JAVA,  but ask my computer and yes I do. It is constantly freezing games I am playing.

  I would stick with what you have, repair it, keep it as long as possible.  I think there are several years before they stop supporting 8.  Not sure.

 Of course, the smarter computer gals will be responding.  They can give you better answers.  The above are from a noncomputer person-------tedEbear

There are quite a few threads in this forum about this, already.  Smiley Happy  You will see all kinds of experiences and opinions.

Personally - I wouldn't do it but that's not to say that you would feel the same.

@tedEbear, are you using a PC?  If so, what browser do you use?

@RinaRina  I did the free upgrade from Windows 8 to 10 when it first came out. I HATED 8 and am much happier with 10. (But overall my favorite was XP).

I have a newer HP laptop and had no problems at all with the download and install. So far the periodic updates have been fine too. I did go through all the settings to lockdown my privacy.

@tedEbear

Rather than try to explain the problem you're having with your games compatibility I'm providing a link that explains that you can opt for other browsers (using Windows 10) that DO support Java and Flash and thusly resume your games membership, etc.

If you don't want to deal with this, you can uninstall Windows 10 from the Start menu within 30 days. HTH'sWoman Happy

I did from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and I have had no problems thus far.  Upgrade was about 6 weeks ago.

I upgraded and I like windows 10 very much no issues. I am not afraid of new technology much better then the old outdated Windows 7,  8 and 8.1. People who have those old programs will have to update eventually because windows will not support them forever.

@apple1964

The assumption of "fear" on your part is rather presumptuous.

If you had paid any attention to the myriad of postings on this subject you'd see that not everyone receives a "no issues" upgrade or the ability to upgrade our current configurations.

I'm glad you are enjoying Windows 10 without issue, but please don't make assumptions about the rest of us who haven't had the same experience.Woman Wink   There's  plenty of time for Windows 7 and 8 users to upgrade with new computers, if we choose to go that route.Woman Happy
