Does anyone still watch movies on DVDs?  I don't think we even have a dvd player anymore (at least a working one) but I want to buy a discontinued TV series, and in fact have several of them. I'm techno challenged in many ways, this is one of them. The post about Stockard Channing reminded me that I loved the West Wing and would love to watch it all again and was ready to buy the set when I realized we don't have a player! (LOL)

Personally, I'd rather just stream something instead of getting a DVD player and DVDs.  West wing is streaming on many platforms including Prime and YouTube--not free, but I'd like to avoid more "stuff" in my house.

@We rescue cats,  do an Amazon search for DVD player.  There are numerous options that are relatively inexpensive.

An alternative is to check local thrift stores.  You might find a DVD player there or a laptop that has a DVD player.

@We rescue cats@We rescue cats@We rescue catscats  I have a DVD player and own all the seasons of West Wing.  I own over 100 DVDs from the past (at least) 10 years.  I love watching my DVDs because there are no commercials.  I loved all the actors on West Wing.

Re: DVDs Anyone?

I especially want one to take in the camper, particularly when we go to a campground for an overnight stop while on the way to our destination, player that we can watch. We can stream at home but often cannot on the road. And anymore even our computers don't have players in them. I guess I'm loooking for one that we can watch as well as play. I've seen them sold on HSN from time to time.

@luvmybeetle that's where we are too! I think I have 90% of the Murder She Wrote shows! LOL but we also have many movies we have never watched. We had bought them specifically for when we were camping. Glad to know I have another to share this!!

Oh, that makes sense.  In that case, I second the idea to check Amazon.  They have quite a few at $40 or less.

Not certain if you want just a DVD player to hook up to a television, or a DVD player with the monitor to view to watch on that unit.

I know HSN has a couple of portable TVs that also include the DVD player.

One of the benefits of still playing DVDs is that they often include extras such as interviews, goof clips, background not available with streaming.

We have a huge collection of DVD's.  Years ago I purchased a large DVD cabinet that covers almost one wall in our family room.  It actually is a lovely piece of furniture.  It has sliding glass doors and 28 small shelves for the DVD's.  I'd never part with it and I know I couldn't find anything like it today.

Besides the DVD's of movies and tv shows, I also purchased recordable discs so I can record from our TV.

We do have Prime and Netflix, but they don't always show the older tv shows that my husband and I enjoy.

I know many have gotten away from DVD's and have gone completely to streaming services, but we're old school and like our DVD's.
