I have an old, not-streaming-compatible tv that actually has a DVD slot and it still works just fine. We are not replacing it until it goes totally kaput.

I saw some of the tv with DVD player over at HSN, that looks like a great option! Any brand opinions?

@We rescue cats - I bought a TV with DVD player from HSN a while ago. The brand was Westinghouse. They still have them in different sizes, but not large screens. Mine was for our spare bedroom.
The quality is good and at least I can still watch and enjoy all the DVDs I have.

We have 1 Blu-Ray player & 1 DVD player on 2 TV's. Not all moives streaming are free. Why pay if I have the DVD?

Quite a few DVD's, but no player for a long time. I just gave a bunch to my neighbor. My old computer had one, but the new one doesn't.

When nothing of interest, or my type of film is on, I go dig into my library for what I feel like watching, or at least listening to. Some have music, so yes, I do.

Yes. My husband still buys DVD. He wants to own it (movie or TV series) and watch it whenever he wants and not rely on streaming for it because it may not always be there.

Thank you for the info and suggestions. In reading the reviews it appears the only downsde is the sound, thinking that I should buy a soundbar . . . did you find a need for one?

Yes I still watch DVDs. I have tons of Christmas, Halloweeen, and kids movies as well as a lot of older movies and other faves and a few series. And I still buy them.
I have one DVD player that I use and one BluRay. And a backup DVD player lol.
Even tho I subscribe to a number of streaming services (and have a few free ones) I've found that you often have to pay for movies so it's better to just buy them.
I generally buy them on Amazon or eBay, even Walmart.

We have soundbars on two of our tv's. My husband really likes the quality of the sound that they provide. They aren't as important to me, but I do notice the difference.
I don't think they are necessary for DVD's , but I think they add to the enjoyment of some movies.
My suggestion is if you are going to purchase one, make sure it's a good quality one. Some of the less expensive ones aren't that great. Both of ours are Sony soundbars.
