Re: Amazon Prime ... comments please

I have both, and I like them both for different reasons.  With Netflix I know everything is free, with Prime there is a fee for some of their offerings.

What I like about Amazon Prime is their selection of documentaries, which I think I a lot larger than Netflix's selection.  I actually did join Prime for the videos, the free shipping was just a bonus for me.

Isn't it clever how they bundle things together so you have to buy a lot you don't want to get the specific things you do want? But the expansion in online streaming means those bundles will soon be obsolete. (And then the cost for the internet connection itself will probably go up!) Sigh.

Of course, I get it that many people really want lots of TV channels. I imagine that if you like sports and news--which I don't care for--cable is probably still a pretty good deal.

I was personally quite happy to trade cable TV for faster internet and a couple of streaming services. After a couple of years without any TV channels, I find it very unpleasant to watch so many commercials. So many! It's like torture! However, I suppose the money to produce and distribute the shows has to come from somewhere, and if not from advertisers, then somehow from viewers/subscribers.

Amazon Prime I use for shopping, Netflix I use for watching shows/movies.
