USPS service is atrocious. I have had packages either go missing or take three weeks to get to me while it ping-pronged its way from Lancaster through towns in New Jersey before it was delivered to me in Brooklyn. USPS has also shoved packages into my mailbox -- one package was obviously too big to fit and caused the mailbox to fall off the wall.
Returns are no better. I shipped a return to QVC on Tuesday, April 4. Today is Tuesday, April 11, and there is no tracking information available on the QVC website: "Status Unavailable." The package may soon show up as delivered (at least I hope so), but in the meantime, I have no idea if it's still in transit or lost. Calling the post office is not an option -- they don't answer the phone, ever. I'll try the post office website next, but I'm not holding my breath.
Either way, it just makes me hesitate ordering from QVC if I can't choose my preferred mode of delivery, i.e., UPS Ground versus USPS, as it used to be in the past. I often shell out the extra money for return UPS delivery so I know my package will get where it's going, but I was unable to do so with this package. I do order from a few online vendors, but with the exception of a couple of them, most use UPS or FedEx Ground as their default shippers.
I've read about many similar complaints here on the Forums, so I know this is not an isolated issue. The problems with USPS are unacceptable, and I wonder when QVC will do something about this. Probably never.

@Brooklynny I guess it depends on where you live. I cannot stand having UPS deliver anything to our house. The drivers have destroyed my vegetable gardens by running over them while backing up onto my lawn. They have damaged the driveway. No one cares. We go out of our way to buy from sellers who do NOT use UPS.
USPS, on the other hand, will come up the driveway and hand deliver packages, ringing the doorbell. They are pleasant and very nice.
I do agree with you that QVC customers should be given a choice on how packages are shipped as they were in the past.

i haven't had any problems with USPS, but i've definitely had a couple with UPS. the first time, it was delivered to my neighbor's door, and the second, which was last christmas, my package didn't arrive at all. tracking indicated that it was delivered to my front door. i was home. no knock, no package. this problem has kept me from ordering since. it used to be shipped USPS, but now they're using UPS. no thanks.

@Meezerpleezer, I agree with your comment about where someone lives and the type of property. I'm in an urban residential neighborhood with 32 attached houses on each side of the block. We have front gardens with wrought iron fencing, and there is a paved path to the front door, as well as the side door located three steps down under the front stoop. Packages are easily left in the side door stairwell and are not visible from the street. There's no reason for the USPS to damage my mailbox and mansonry wall.
We have three UPS delivery truck deliveries to our block every day. During the Christmas holiday period, we have as many as five or six. I can't remember the last time I had any problems with UPS. But USPS? Unreliable and shoddy service, from non-existent or delayed tracking to ultimate delivery. The only solution is to restore customer choice so we can all select the best shipping option for our individual situations. Anyway, thanks for listening to my venting!

What do you expect QVC to do about USPS?
QVC doesn't own the USPS. QVC can't discipline the USPS. QVC can't refuse to do business with the USPS. So what would you have them do?

I live in a small town in south central Kansas. Our UPS guys almost always "deliver" my packages to the Post Office and leave a note saying I was not home (in my regular PO box) . . I'm ALWAYS home during the day, and have a big, sheltered front porch. Which means I have to make trips to the PO when they are open to "truck" my packages home. I see them drive right by our house, some even wave. . . Makes me wonder why the postage/handling is so high??!!

I think it must depend upon where you live and who your usual driver/deliverer is. I see a big difference with FedEx currently at the bottom of my list.
As for the timing - I've never in the 25+ years with QVC had any purchase or return take 3 weeks - never. Also have never had any purchse or return from any other company take that amount of time. I have to say it adds to my satisfaction with where I live!

@Brooklynny - I've had a few returns which sat at our local post office for a while (definately over a week). It was explained to me, that UPS will pick up a large shipment at one time from the post office, which are then delivered to a larger hub, they then will go back to QVC or other places. You may have missed that post office pick up by a day and then will wait possibly another week or more before the next UPS pick up. Once UPS picks up, the delivery back goes pretty quickly and then tracking will be updated. I agree it's bothersome to have a return in limbo and not knowing the status, but mine have always eventually gotten back to QVC.

Both UPS and USPS are great where at live, No complaints.
If my mail box was destroyed by a deliverer, I wouldn't blame QVC, I'd deliver my complaints to USPS.
I do know that UPS sends a lot of their packages to USPS to deliver. They do this to save money especially in rural areas. My packages from Landsend seem to go this route and it takes longer.

Even if you could choose the shipper at QVC, that wouldn't ensure delivery by the same service. Many things I order from other companies start out as FedEx shipments and wind up as USPS deliveries.
QVC is too busy propping up the falling dollar to overhaul the US Postal Service at the moment.
