I am sorry you get frustrated but from what I read, maybe you are not understanding how the 'system' works.
ALL vendors put a temp hold. Gas stations, 7-11, McD ....almost anyone who you are trying to charge with. Anywhere from $1 to the actual cost of the upcoming purchase.
They need to be sure you have the credit to purchase. No one is holding anything hostage.
Contacting the vendor will do you NO good unfortunately. Trust us all when we all say it IS the bank/financial institution.
QVC has absolutely no control. Barking at CS will not help.
It has been an accepted, common place transaction for years and years.
Only the banking institution, not the vendor, can control when it drops off.
If you are running tight on your cards, I would think carefully about the purchase maybe. Especially trying to cancel it.
Perhaps you do not understand. The pending charge remains on hold against my cards for 7-10 days AFTER the actual payment clears. This ties up my money no matter what balance I have remaining, whether my balance available is $10 or $1,000. I know the pending charge is put on to guarantee finances are available. That is not the issue. The issue is it is not removed when an actual payment posts.
The balance on my card is mine to use as I see fit as long as I have money there to cover the charges for 1 amount for each purchase. Not double amounts. Whether I use my available balance in full each month or not is not the issue. By these pending charges remaining on my account for days after the payment is duly collected reflects in my credit rating as my accounts will reflect higher balance than what it actually should have. When the actual charge clears and they have secured my money they must immediately reverse the pending charge to free up my credit that was pending. They do not. That pending charge AND the actual secured payment they got are both on my card and the pending can remain there for up to 10 days!
Since YOU seem to think it is the bank, why do the QVC customer service reps all tell me they have to send the info to a department in QVC to release the pending amount? And why does my Senators office, who is a leading financial senator in D.C. also agree with me. My money is tied up for double the amount until the vendor releases the long term pending charges.
Would you like to purchase an item for example $500, have a pending charge applied, then the actual charge clears, yet your pending $500 is still not available for you to use? Let me know if you would appreciate that, no matter whether "running tight in cards" or not. My credit available is for my use, no matter the amount, not for the use of a vendor to tie up that does not remove pending approvals for 7-10 days after the actual charge clears.
No, no...I get you....it is just the vendor can't do anything about it! We are all just trying to explain to you how the system works.
You can't blame the seller/vendor. There isn't a CS rep that can go in and force your bank to update. If only it were that easy that one phone call could correct the problem.
It is the financial institution that is not dropping them off in a timely manner.
It is a double charge for a while, no doubt.
I have had the holds take a week sometimes.
I understand it is causing you concern....my cards have such silly high available credit it is never a concern to me...but I can see why you don't like it.
However, I don't think there is anything you can do about it except cause yourself stress. Sometimes we are just at the mercy of the techno age when the computers update or whatever and clear things off. We just have to wait.
@RespectLife ( @Yodamoose7733 )
So when I call QVC customer service and they can verify that both the payment that cleared and the pending authorization has not been reversed and they tell me they are sending info to a different department to have the pending authorization cleared that it is not happening?
So I just called customer service and posed the question to the representative and was told they do reach out offline to someone in their financial service area to request these unremoved pending authorizations be lifted when a customer calls and they usually clear in 1-2 days.
I know, because I do it all the time. And just confirmed it with a simple call to customer service. 1-800-367-9444. Press 0 in the menu.
I always go to the source for my info. Thank you.

@Yodamoose7733 Have you told your bank these charges are fraudulent? Your order was never accepted and you are disputing the charge. Ask that they do a reversal on your account. Just keep moving up the ladder and get a resolution. You can call corporate office and file a complaint. Do you have a phone number for them? Their phone number is 484-701-1000. Hope this helps.

I have had the same issue today. My personal bank is BOA. Because I had the shipping charges removed and increased the quantity from 2 items to 3, I now have 3 deductions from my bank account. I'm being told that all 3 will remain until the order actually ships. So basically, QVC has the use of $200.00 of my money until they issue a credit/cancel order or whatever it is that they do. I will still be charged the $95.00 and change that I should be (no complaints) but I am told it will take up to 3 days or so for the other amounts to be reversed. QVC is quick to charge your account but ever so so to credit your account (for returns, changes, errors!). Really sick of this practice. THEN, they wonder why business is falling off?!
