Still lands on the merchant and when said merchant said they notified bank for reversal and hasn’t been received from said bank. That lands on the merchant. Only the merchant can reverse or void transactions. Now to assume that it’s anyone spending money and running tight and that I or anyone else should be contemplating anything regarding their purchases when strictly I tried doing the easy pay trying to rebuild my credit and gave it a shot was my choice and decision. And I didn’t qualify for whatever reason and they cancelled my order and a reversal should have been done immediately. Amazingly I have cancelled orders or changed them by adding or removing and somehow ended up back in my account or reflected properly. Now pre authorizations typically are three days. Yes hotels do them and gas stations and etc but it usually doesn’t take this long and yes pre authorizations land on the merchant.

@RespectLife I strictly asked for ideas and help seeing how there’s nothing but complaints regarding this issue. The jumping to conclusions and then saying it’s not QVC when that’s how pre authorizations work that merchant charges them. It would still very much land on either side

I am sorry you get frustrated but from what I read, maybe you are not understanding how the 'system' works.

ALL vendors put a temp hold.  Gas stations, 7-11, McD ....almost anyone who you are trying to charge with.  Anywhere from $1 to the actual cost of the upcoming purchase.

They need to be sure you have the credit to purchase.  No one is holding anything hostage.

Contacting the vendor will do you NO good unfortunately.  Trust us all when we all  say it IS the bank/financial institution.

QVC has absolutely no control.  Barking at CS will not help.

It has been an accepted, common place transaction for years and years.

Only the banking institution, not the vendor, can control when it drops off.

If you are running tight on your cards, I would think carefully about the purchase maybe.  Especially trying to cancel it.

Perhaps you do not understand.  The pending charge remains on hold against my cards for 7-10 days AFTER the actual payment clears.  This ties up my money no matter what balance I have remaining, whether my balance available is $10 or $1,000.  I know the pending charge is put on to guarantee finances are available.  That is not the issue.  The issue is it is not removed when an actual payment posts.

The balance on my card is mine to use as I see fit as long as I have money there to cover the charges for 1 amount for each purchase.  Not double amounts.  Whether I use my available balance in full each month or not is not the issue.  By these pending charges remaining on my account for days after the payment is duly collected reflects in my credit rating as my accounts will reflect higher balance than what it actually should have.  When the actual charge clears and they have secured my money they must immediately reverse the pending charge to free up my credit that was pending.  They do not.  That pending charge AND the actual secured payment they got are both on my card and the pending can remain there for up to 10 days!

Since YOU seem to think it is the bank, why do the QVC customer service reps all tell me they have to send the info to a department in QVC to release the pending amount?  And why does my Senators office, who is a leading financial senator in D.C. also agree with me.  My money is tied up for double the amount until the vendor releases the long term pending charges.

Would you like to purchase an item for example $500, have a pending charge applied, then the actual charge clears, yet your pending $500 is still not available for you to use?  Let me know if you would appreciate that, no matter whether "running tight in cards" or not.  My credit available is for my use, no matter the amount, not for the use of a vendor to tie up that does not remove pending approvals for 7-10 days after the actual charge clears.

@Yodamoose7733. I would call the credit card issuer and ask to speak to a supervisor.  Something is wrong on their end.

Oh my that just made my heart go in my throat. I am so sorry. Yeah they said they sent a reversal request that was on the 14th and now I am just sitting here. I have been so many different things. Then complaints when I put into google qvc and easy pay complaints. All same thing and people not getting their pending pre authorizations reversed for a month. So I figured I would try asking in here if anyone has any suggestions cause I literally have tried everything. I don’t know what to even do anymore meanwhile I just have $200 sitting in a pending status for a cancelled order. I just don’t understand anymore

@Kachina624 Thank you for reply. Something about all of this made no sense and I was just asking for direction seeing if anyone else had experienced it what the outcome was. I appreciate your kind response. @Scorpio1971 I do apologize on behalf of the contributor if I even knew anyone was going to talk anyone that way I wouldn’t have even started the thread and ask the question so I could kinda know what and how of anyone’s experience to this or if I was alone and just a little advice. Truly I am sorry no one should be talked to that way especially in that type of situation of doubling charging than not thinking a second in being in that persons shoe how frustrating that could be. Once again I do apologize.

@Scorpio1971

No, no...I get you....it is just the vendor can't do anything about it!  We are all just trying to explain to you how the system works.

You can't blame the seller/vendor.  There isn't a CS rep that can go in and force your bank to update.  If only it were that easy that one phone call could correct the problem.

It is the financial institution that is not dropping them off in a timely manner.

It is a double charge for a while, no doubt.

I have had the holds take a week sometimes.

I understand it is causing you concern....my cards have such silly high available credit it is never a concern to me...but I can see why you don't like it.

However, I don't think there is anything you can do about it except cause yourself stress.  Sometimes we are just at the mercy of the techno age when the computers update or whatever and clear things off.  We just have to wait.

@Yodamoose7733

No need to apologize! 😊🤗❤.  Attitudes come in all shapes & sizes and I just deal with them.  I know what I have been dealing with with this issue and how frustrating it has been as an ongoing issue for me.  And you being a newbie to this issue I just had to tell you you are not alone.❤  I will perfectly express my opinion without demeaning anyone when I know what I am talking about. And for someone to assume they know my finances or I do not handle my finances properly that just sets me off! 😤.

Can you imagine this scenario if this was a brick & mortar store situation for example, going in to order something and giving a deposit for a delivery.  You delivery comes and now you must pay the entire amount on delivery without getting credit for your deposit, and told you would get your deposit in 7-10 days!  NO!  It's wrong.  And so too is this situation of pending authorizations not being lifted on a timely basis.

Don't let anyone deter you from making your comments and speaking what is on your mind.  You are in control of your life & your finances, not a keyboard warrior that thinks they know you. 😊❤

Hoping your issue is resolved soon! 😊

@Yodamoose7733

I work in accounting, I am sorry but you are wrong.

The merchant sends through a hold, not an actual sale.

When appropriate, such as it actually ships, transaction complete, the system sends through a true charge.

How long it takes the bank to drop the original 'fake hold' is up to them.

We don't ever 'contact' the financial institution and 'tell' them to drop the first.

Since it isn't a real sale...it drops off on its own.

You asked for ideas and I and others are trying to explain to you how this system works.  I am not saying it is a good system by any means!

I am not jumping to any conclusions....I just know how this all works.  If you feel better making a lot of calls, then that is what you should do!

QVC reps are just sending an email to another department at QVC when you complain to them.  They can not contact every financial institution out there.

They are not calling your credit card or bank for you etc....can't be done.

It is all automated and computerized through ports etc. not input by hand per transaction.

I and others are just trying to explain to both of you how this all really works.

I'm not giving you attitude!  Gosh no...just facts.  I am sorry if this offends you in any way...but I have knowledge I was trying to share.  I'm sorry I tried to help you!

@Yodamoose7733 - You have received some great information and advice here; I hope it helps you. But one very important thing to keep in mind is that all the references to processing timeframes such as 5-7 days are BUSINESS DAYS—so if your reversal was initiated on Friday, you've only really made it through one day so far, and patience will be needed to wait for the financial institution to handle the transaction request and then apply the updated balance to your account.

Good luck!
