I noticed when I order there is an extra .50 cents added to my purchase for Road improvement and food delivery fee....not ordering food and I don't live there!  What the heck?  I know it's only .50 cents but Wow the nerve!

Maybe your state passed a law requiring these fees.

@Seashell girl.    More info needed.  When you order from where?  QVC?  Where do you live?

Apparently Minnesota has a $0.50 "Road Improvement and Food Delivery Fee."  It applies to retail deliveries greater than $100.  It doesn't apply to food deliveries like groceries or takeout,  In fact, deliveries from restaurants and food establishmenIts are exempt.

If QVC shipped an order to Minnesota that was greater than $100, it would have to charge the $0.50 fee, no matter what was purchased.

I guess states are are catching up with taxes and fees. I remember buying a few pricey items such as televisions and higher end jewelry from HSN to avoid the PA sales tax, I know we bought at least 3 big screen televisions this way, one arrived just in time for the super bowl!

With the proliferation of more and more deliveries since Covid, several states have considered adding additional fees to deliveries. I believe many add it stating it's for road upkeep.

@Seashell girl just to make you feel better be glad you aren't paying the hotel taxes and fees in and around Los Angeles , Ca

a rough estimate was on a room rate of 402.00. We paid an additional fee of a little over 100. Each night

to start there is the parking/ valet  fee of 40. PLUS 12% tax . Tips extra

35.00 amenity fee don't ask

TOT, transient occupancy tax and other taxes 15% of nightly rate. In my case 61.00@ night.
that's about 137 bux added on to nightly rate.
these inc state, city AND county taxes, impounds and fransportation tax.

I wish I had my bill handy to break it down. Lovely hotel, we have been staying there for 10 years. The taxes increased and many were added at Covid time.
