Curious to know where the market days are in Texas that OP is going to. There are market days and trade days. In most places, the food is carnival-type, so you would want to eat somewhere on the road before or after shopping. I usually fill by Yeti with ice and water; the ice doesn't melt for about 18 hours. This is Texas, so you need water more than food if you are on a road trip. I usually bring some protein bars and almonds. A protein bar can keep me filled up so four hours is no problem.

Personally, I think whoever is driving should decide if snacks or beverages are wanted or needed. I would only plan on a water bottle for myself.

I think the only reason for food of any type is if someone has a medical need.

@kittyloo  Our children live 4 and 5 hours away. We usually just take water and some Wurthers. Don't take anything salty because you will swell up. Kind bars and fruit are good if you need something more substantial.

ETA: If we are leaving after work I just pack a sandwich for DH.

I do take light snacks and beverages on 4 hour trips because I do not like to eat at fast food places and because I have had times when traffic was so bad it took much longer than planned and I was getting "hangry".

Snacks I like are red seedless grapes (Costco has great grapes), ind cheese (rounds or stcks), ind packs of nuts, panino sticks, date bread, ginger ale, iced tea....basically things that travel well and if not used in the car, can be used later.

A container of Peanut Butter Pretzels is tidy & easy to manage, no crumbs or stickiness.

We call it car food. I take lemon water with ice when I go anywhere in the car even just shopping. Always have pink peppermints, striped peppermints, forgot the name, sour patch kids, clove and ginger hard candy, and Lance crackers in the car. On a long trip, we have a cooler that plugs into what used to be for a lighter and take yogurt, fruit, and sandwiches.

On a trip we like a bag of Edamame.  We bring frozen bag from TJ , then when they thaw they are so good.  Also we bring bag of organic peeled small carrots, almonds.  Some sort of chip that isn't too messy amda we love to bring lemon drops

@kittyloo  A four hour trip is really doable for hubs and I with just a bottle of water each. No problem.

On longer trips we still  take a bottle of water apiece. Hubs loves lemon drops and Bugles. lol He crunches through a good half bag while driving of the lemon drops. I hand him three Bugles at a time. We have this down to a science.Woman LOL

I don't snack on anything. Water sips only. We both get coffee at rest stops.

I have a huge question though. Where are 3-4 ladies going to put all your shopping bags? As a power shopper myself, sometimes when outlet shopping with hubs or a friend, there is barely enough room for all the stuff.

Anyway, you enjoy yourself and please, if you can, post about your adventure. I love shopping adventure stories.Smiley Happy

The same as I would for kids.  Trail mix, licorace, all in of course, zip lock bags.  Some like hard candy to melt in their mouth, so-to-speak.  Just keep in mind, the kids angle.
