@qvcaddition ,

When you have time, let us know how your Colonoscopy, went for you today. Hopefully it was/is uneventful.

@hckynutjohn

The prep was hard, but the procedure went smoothly.

I am puzzled because they found 5 polyps.

All the other times the Dr. would say, well 3 are OK, one could turn into cancer.

This time, he didn't talk to me afterwards, but the nurse assisting him said, you don't have cancer and told my son the same. She said we see people and can tell when it is cancer

With my son, she said, she doesn't have cancer.

What bother me is why then do they have to send them to pathology and  have to wait a couple of weeks?

The Dr. did say, see you in three years. I was groggy and everythng so quick, I didn't have time to ask those questions.

So still worried. Thanks for answering.

You know a lot about medical from going through a lot, do you have an opinion?

@qvcaddition my take on that is the gastroenterologist is fairly confident when a polyp is non-cancerous (after all, he probably does dozens of colonoscopies every week). However, normal procedures are that they be examined more closely. Considering the doctor removed five from you, a three year schedule seems wise.

@qvcaddition

Medical protocol is that ANY growth removed from the body has to be sent for pathology for identification.

My dermatologist sends off skin tags, warts, moles, etc.

Your Dr might look at a polyp and know when it's cancerous, but that pathology report is VERY important.  I trust all of my doctors, but if something that was growing in or on my body is removed, I want it biopsied!

Changing the subject, please:

Do you ever skate at the rink on 63rd & Center? That was a horrible roof collapse this week. Glad to see you are posting and, apparently, were not involved in it. I didn't think you skated there, but one never knows. Be safe, my friend. Smiley Wink

@qvcaddition  so glad that everything went well. I'm so suprised that the Dr did not even take 5 minutes to talk to you.

What @RedTop  said is correct. I would prefer it that way also even though the results take a few weeks.. The first time when polys were found and the Dr said everything is ok, I wondered how he knew that. That's why they are the Pros.

Continue doing what you have been doing. Everything is ok.

@qvcaddition  I'm wondering if when you sent your specimen off to the lab the results somehow got mixed up at the lab.

I had one a few months ago. My first one. YUCK! That dreadful drink!! I think your doctor probably cut some pieces and sent them off for biopsy. I wouldn’t worry much. I didn’t see my doctor afterwards either. They just called me back and told me to take the prescription off basically (PEPCID). But I found out about 2 1/2 months later how many side affects the medication was causing me. So I stopped taking it! I feel much better. But that medicine causes weak bones overtime so shouldn’t take it too long anyway. I am supposed to take it a year.

I hope you are well. And just don’t worry and try to forget and pretend that you never had the procedure until you see your doctor. Or better yet, call the doctor office on Monday and ask the nurse if they took biopsies?

That’s what I would do if I was you! Hope you are okay🙂💖

I have to schedule my first one and I'm worried about the prep part (the drink).  Been putting it off and I know I need to get it over with.  Ugh.

@San Antonio Gal   I'm with you! I just called two days ago to schedule my first one. My appointment is in March. 😱 I've put mine off long enough, too, and knew I had to just go ahead and schedule it!! 💩🙈
