Hi cute. Yesterday I was just reading to submit my post to you when we lost the internet. Someone was here cleaning the air ducts and broke the circuit. DD figured it out last night, but I was cut off. This afternoon the window treatment she ordered for her BR and den are coming. Hope she likes them. We are going to put the brakes on spending for a while. Wow, things add up quickly. I have to go out though and get gift cards for the 4 birthdays coming this month and next. SIL has his on the 15th. First time to buy him a birthday gift as my SIL.

Glad the bunny is okay. Also that you are getting new carpeting. For the whole house? It has really been there a long time. So you have a new roof and now new carpeting. Yeah. We do have to keep up our properties.

Hi to all who read and post here.

Hi cute, it's my pleasure to chat with you each day. Wouldn't be the same otherwise. I drove through the car wash a while ago and then came home and washed the tile floors. It's in the 90s today, but they say it will be maybe 104 over the weekend. DD#1 and her hubby's family are going to a ball game on Saturday night, so it should be comfortable then, but DD#2 is going on Sunday afternoon, and that will be HOT. But she and her friend spend quite a bit of time shopping and eating ice cream in the shade.

Yesterday she got home before her window treatments got here which was good so she could hear them explain how to operate them. There are 2 layers. One white for light and the other is sort of a beige. They really block out a lot of heat and make the BR dark at night. Hope she gets used to them.

Hope you can afford the carpeting as it sounds like you really need it. We replaced what was in the family room about 10 years ago, but the rest of the house still has the original carpet. It needs cleaning badly, but DD and I can't really take out the furniture the way hubby could. So, for now, we are just letting it go. We have spent enough money for a while.

I asked both of my girls what they think about just stopping buying Christmas presents for the family. No answer yet. Several people don't give anything because they don't have enough money or don't want to. And it ends up being a matter or exchanging gift cards. There are no children, which would make it different. I'd like to just get together to celebrate the birth of Jesus which is what Christmas is, and enjoy a good meal and catch up with each other's lives and maybe play a game or something. Of course I already bought those Lenox ornaments they had, but I'd figure out something. Hope everyone else is on board with it. DS and his wife are getting a whole new kitchen put in, so I'm sure they won't have money for "stuff". And none of us needs more stuff anyway.

Well, glad the bunny is okay. I don't care about watching the kitchen shows on the Q or anywhere, so I'm not tempted to buy that. Going to make mac and cheese for dinner. We both like that, and it was hubby's favorite food in the world.

Take care. Hi to Issy, bath, MsLomo, WaJa, Lurky, CouponQueen, Danky and all our friends.

Hi SNAPPY and CUTE......stopping by to tell you I was thinking of you. I've been a teeny bit down in the dumps...one of my sons ( with whom I have always had a very close relationship) and I are having a problem and it really has bothered me. We spoke yesterday and today for a total of about 6 hrs and things are turning around but hurt feelings and emotions need time to heal. SNAPPY....I absolutely agree with you regarding Christmas presents and we have all agreed that ,if Santa and children were not involved, Dec 25th would have a different focus. We, as a family, are very, VERY fortunate and whenever someone wants or needs something during the year they get it. We really have to search high and low to find something that someone doesn't have and I , personally, hate stuff (as I've mentioned before ). I love Mac and cheese. When I was growing up my Grammy or Mother would make us Kraft in the blue box with the powdered cheese and to this day it is me favorite and I always have it in the pantry. DH makes a lobster Mac & cheese with marscapone and cheddar (I think) and that is a close second ! It has been very comfortable here so this morning I roasted a beef eye round. We had sandwiches with cole slaw on the side and sweet tea. I ate way too much ! If you have the carpets cleaned, we have had Stanley Steamer come in and they move all the furniture. CUTE....did your corvette event happen yet ? New carpet is awesome....it somehow makes a clean house feel even cleaner. All of my children do not allow shoes to be worn in their homes and their floors/carpets always look much better than mine. Hope you have a nice evening....going to take a shower , get comfy and settle in for the night.

Hi Danky, great to see you here. Sorry you and your DS are going through a hard time, but it's wonderful that you can talk about it and that you feel things are making a turn for the better. You say you have been close, so I'm sure it will work out soon. But it's very upsetting to us moms.

Glad to know your family has stopped gift giving except to children. My youngest GD is 29, and if there are ever any GGrands, I'll be at the toy store, but so far there aren't. My girls are TOTALLY fine with my idea, and I think my son will be also. DD#1 suggested drawing names and that might work except that GD has a very serious BF, but they aren't married. If I were to draw his name, that means I'd not be buying for my own family. DD#2 goes to a tea each Christmas where they have an ornament exchange and play a game where they "steal" from others if they love a certain one. I'm sure we would all do that. I'm way too old to go out to the malls. I've been buying everything from the Q, but spending WAY too much money and not always certain the others like or want what I give them. My girls and I are relived.

The way your hubby makes mac and cheese sounds so delicious. I make mine the way mom did with sharp Tillamook cheese, cracker crumbs and milk. We loved it and DD had some to take to work for lunch today. Thanks for the info about Stanley Steamer. We always use the Chem Dry process, and maybe they would move the furniture also. DD and I have to put the brakes on spending for a while. Am watching Susan Graver, but not seeing anything I need or want. Yeah.

cute, I really hope the stormy weather goes away for your Corvette fest and other activities. Can't drive Maybelline in the rain! It's going to be about 106 on Sunday. I got out today for a few things from Target. Went early enough in the day to avoid the worst heat. Did you pick out your new carpeting? It's hard to do when the house is furnished, but it works out somehow. Glad your GDIL stopped by for a visit. She's probably on a short term mission. Our church sends teams out like that all the time. One recently spent about a week in New Orleans helping people who are still in need after Katrina, and others went to Europe this year to hold English language camps where they can help people learn conversational English and also tell them about the Lord. We had a team in Moscow also.

I remember you telling us that your family stopped with the Christmas gifts. I so LOVE to give, but find shopping exhausting now. And what to buy? I know DD and I will remember each other. I have a watch on advanced order for her. It's supposed to be here in November, also one of the bracelets that say "I love you to the moon and back". She gave me a necklace that says that. I wear it every day. Nobody has made an offer on the unit my SIL has up for sale, but someone will.

DD is getting used to her new window shades. They really keep the room dark at night, but I would need to raise them so I could see out during the day. That's why I like the vertical blinds. They are so adjustable in every way.

Hi Issy, bath, MsLomo, and all who read here.

Hi ladies. Sorry that I haven't posted lately. I was sick. I some how caught a nasty cold, but I am feeling better now. I stayed home and watched the spanish novelas.

Hi Danky; I love the mac and cheese in the blue box. My SIL makes hers from scratch. Always love hearing about the great food. I am happy that you and your DS are working on your relationship. Give it time. Danky, what is your typical Thanksgiving/Christmas dinner menu?

Hi Snappy; speaking of Christmas gifts. I went to a arts/crafts show and bought several Christmas gifts. I bought a beautiful bracelet for my neighbor, Joan. So glad that your DD likes the window blinds.

Hi Cute; good to see you here, too. I don't like thunder, but I am really, really afraid of lightning. I started feeling bad when I went to the arts/crafts show, so by the next day......I had a full blown sore throat, etc.

Hi MsLomo; hope that you are well. Hi Bathina. Hello to all of the wonderful ladies of the Q. Will be back tomorrow.
