Re: estate sales

[ Edited ]

I enjoy architectural design, so it's fun going to huge

homes (old or new) that are having a sale.

Not every estate sale is due to a death. Many people are

just downsizing. Sometimes the owners are moving and

want a different look and style for their new home. You

can find some beautiful pieces and quality items.

I find upcoming sales on... estatesales.net ( add your state

in search ).

Later today I am going to a local consignment shop.  I need a chair.  The proprietor goes to estate sales, but many folk sell their stuff through the shop in advance of an estate sale.  I've furnished a lot of my home from there.

I just got some Thanksgiving placemats, and green velvet throw pillows that are just screaming Christmas.

Both our neighbors are gone.Their families held an estate sale. We bought a few things(we really don't need much-we are blessed) but when I see these holiday things ai remember them/love.and kindness.

The estate sales here that are run by professionals go for three days. First day the prices are marked the highest. Second day they are 1/3 off and the final day, Sunday, they are 50-75% off. You run a risk waiting til the last day since most things are gone by then or put back for auction if they are pricey antiques, etc. If it is just some relatives trying to dispose of things they do t want from someone who passed, the prices are give-away.
