I even drink the water in which they are cooked!

Re: asparagus ~ thumbs up or down?

No interest in asparagus ice cream, but, I like the veggie.

Really good pickled, too.

I'm not opposed to trying some weird food combo's.  A couple of years ago, at a local food festival,  I tried, and actually liked, a Croissant Cheeseburger!

Oh, stop, with the gagging, it was quite good🍔

My SO still teases me about the CC, I'm a Diettian! I've threatened to make them for dinner, haven't done so, but, it was GOOD, I tell you🍔🍔

We Gs like asparagus quite a lot.  Asparagus Milanese is a favorite at our table.

THUMBS UP!   When I was 17 and lived in Chelan Washington( in Eastern Washington State) I use to get on my bike and bike along Lake Chelan and hunt for wild asparagus every summer.  It was so much fun!  And It was so fresh and delicious picked right from the ground.  It is kind of like hunting for mushrooms.. you have to find the perfect setting as asparagus does not just grow anywhere..... you find a whole patch of them growing together ... It was like a treasure hunt!

I like asparagus   in season when tender... but sometimes when they sell it in the winter time it is so touch and stringy it is just awful.

I live in Spokane. Your asparagus hunt, reminds me of hunting for places to pick Huckleberries, up at Beautiful, Priest Lake. It can be quite the work out, which is why they're so expensive, no doubt.

My favorite way to have asparagus is steamed over brown rice and drizzled with lime infused olive oil.

Re: asparagus ~ thumbs up or down?

When we bought our home, the elderly Swiss couple had a large garden planted on half of the back half-acre land.  It had gone to weeds when the husband died.

Come Spring, we noticed these little thin spikes growing beyond the weed area.  DH cut them down and to our surprise: fresh, tender asparagus.  What a feast !!!

The following year we anxiously awaited the crop.  However, the cable our rescued Irish Setter had managed to cut down the little fellows....forever.

They were great while they lasted !

@Suhse. I am a hunter/gather too. We pick wild cranberries and huckleberries at Rickets Glen PA.  Teaberries also.  I read somewhere that people of eastern European decent are gathers. In my case it is true.

Re: asparagus ~ thumbs up or down?

Yes, love asperagus and so does my hubby.

Costco sometimes sells a brand called Victoria Island and it's the BEST.

The trouble is that if they do get it in it's only in that cooler section for about 4-6 weeks. Either we missed it last year or they never got it in.

I'm on the west coast. If you are too then look for this brand in Costco. If you see it buy it; you won't be sorry.

Now, is nobody going to mention aperagus pee?  LOL!
