I am always clean and showered before going out, and my clothes are clean, but I will definitely go out without makeup-most times on the weekends I am without makeup! At 62, I no longer care about what people think! If I am neat and clean, that is good enough for me! I dress up and wear makeup all throughout the week for work, so when weekends roll along sometimes I just put on some gloss and out the door!

The only good thing (aside from trying to keep safe and keep others safe) about wearing a mask is that between the mask, my sunglasses, and the low profile baseball-type cap I wear, is that you can't see any face at all. 

The bad piece of that is that one day, at the bank (!), I saw my reflection and said 'oh krap, I look like a bank robber!'.   hehe

If things ever get back to normal - my usual m.o. was not really wearing full-on make up to go to the store but I did just hit some powder and lip gloss.  I will always have sunglasses on, anyway, so the eyes are fine.  That's because my eyes are very sensitive to light.   I admit that I am perfectly good with hiding behind them.

Of course.   Many years ago, I took a break from painting some things and ran over to the grocery store for something or other.  I was a mess. 

And that was the day I stood in the checkout line behind a young, handsome and still single Mark Harmon.  OMG, he was gorgeous in those St Elsewhere days.  Would have preferred to have looked a little better ... just to exchange pleasantries. 

Oh well.   As you say ... that's  the way it works.

Over 40 years ago, my mom wrecked her car on our heavily rutted dirt road, and had to be taken by ambulance to the ER.  

First thing I asked her was if she had on clean underwear, as she was in the exact scenario for the saying she had said to me for so many years!  She grinned, but hurt too bad to answer my question.

It will not matter how and where I die-whether I have on make-up or not or if my hair is combed or not.

The mortician will pretty me up anyway.

I'm so sorry that  happened to you.  I'm like you - I still apply makeup, mask and all, but maybe a little less.  I attended Catholic school, where makeup wasn't allowed.  Since then,  I really enjoy using it.

My Mother  said to wear clean nice underwear in case you are in an accident and go to the hospital....kind of the same philosophy.... Be prepared for whatever!

I really don't care about making myself presentable to run to the store.  I have gone to the store and out to lunch with my husband with dirty yard work clothes on and my hair pulled on top of my head in a scrunchie.  One of our church pastors works at Home Depot, so he has seen me several times in my yard work clothes.  I will rinse off and change into jeans and a T-shirt if my shirt is wet from sweat, but then that means I'm done for the day.  I figure if I see someone I know they would probably think "Wow, she sure cleans up nice."  Big woop.  I dress up because it makes ME feel good, not to please anyone else.
