My granddaughter is marrying a great guy from the South, he says y'all.  We picked it up. I actually like the sound of y'all better than you guys.    I am from California, you guys ...even when addressing a room full of women is the standard slang  i say it

I was born in the northeast, raised mostly in the midwest, and have lived in the southeast for decades now. “You guys” comes naturally to me in a very casual, small group. I occasionally use “y’all” but it is tongue in cheek humor when I do. I don’t use either in a business setting or large group.

You is a single or plural word.  There is no need to add all or guys to it.

It was hammered into me by the grammar police when I went to school.  I cringe when I hear you all, y'all or you guys and any other terms..such as Yunz or Yous.

As a Jersey woman, I would use you guys, not youse and I do not hear that word from anyone I am with.  However, I do try not to use you guys especially when addressing females, children and adults.  As a female I do not like being called a guy even though it isn't meant to offend or hurt, it is just an expression, one I do not care for.
