Re: Wrongful death suit...really?

It’s not a frivolous lawsuit for the OWNERS of the helicopter company who are are liable for allowing the flight.

Re: Wrongful death suit...really?

From CNN

“The lawsuit notes that the Federal Aviation Administration cited Zobayan in 2015 for violating visual flight rules minimums and that the FAA operating certificate for Island Express limited its pilots to flying under visual flight rules, not conditions that necessitated the use of instruments.
“Defendant Island Express Helicopters authorized, directed and/or permitted with full knowledge that the subject helicopter was flying into unsafe weather conditions,” the complaint says.”

I would say if was anger if she was suing the pilot but the pilot is dead.  So, it's only for the money.  Apparently, she doesn't think she's wealthy enough.

Significant puntiive damages might be enough to put the company out of business.  If they allowed this pilot to fly in those conditions, they should be out of business.

Her motive is not any of our business and is only speculative.

Oh my @esmerelda , I can't believe you started this thread on the speculation of motive! Did you ever think about the other families as well? They along with the Bryant family have every right to sue.

Exactly.  And oftentimes the only way to make such changes - so other families don't have to go through this nightmare - is usually through a lawsuit.

Re: Wrongful death suit...really?

My dh once flew in a similar situation. The pilot wasdisoriented by snow and told my dh to watch for a break where he could see ground...when my dh spotter a clearing they landed right along the highway..thankfully no cars got involved and they were able to avoid a crash. They were picked up by a taxi.Pilots should not take chances with lives.I think she should sue to get the message out there.Another time my dh flew in a small plane to the queen charlottes. The plane ride was very turbulent and when they finally landed the pilot said ..lucky you flew with meAnyone else would have turned back.My dh said he wanted to punch him but he was so grateful to be alive that he just left the plane.
