Re: Wounded Warriors project Execs fired

WW was a charity I was determined to support in 2016 until the publicity of their shortcomings came out. I may still, but not yet. Let's see what else they do going forward. I think a whistleblower tipped off CBS. The nonprofit obviously felt the heat of the fallout post-CBS-story and recognized that to save their charity, they had to oust the plunderers. The Board should probably have fired the top five in command, not just the top two. I love the concept of the charity and hope they recover.

I wonder if they would have been fired if CBS News hadn't embarassed the organization.  Probably not - certainly others in the organization knew what was going on.  They ought to clean house.

Until the CBS show I don't believe the general public had any idea of how the WWP execs were spending the money. Employees and former employees did but the media hadn't focussed their attention on what was being said-until CBS News.

That's what I'm saying -- thanks to CBS News for exposing this shameful organization.  I'm sure there were many insiders - many more than the ones fired - who knew it was a private party but chose to keep quiet.  There's something unethical about that.

Re: Wounded Warriors project Execs fired

I read a long time ago this was one charity not to give to as the money goes to dubious sources. It was on a list naming the safest/unsafest charities. The Salvation Army was the only one that was certain. They said it's wonderful. I just remembered The Red Cross was not good. The head of it gets a HUGE salary.

It's shameful how they played on veterans to get donations then spent the money on themselves. I read about this  Organization before.  You would be surprised at some of the big charities on  how they use donations unwisely. Just look it up on the Internet. Big salaries!

They should make them repay the money back to the Wounded Warriors organization ... that they wasted on frivolous activities.

Very disappointing news indeed.  WW is one of the charities we've supported and now I feel like we've been duped.

I and my family all support Fisher House also, as another poster upthread said her family did. It's a wonderful organization.
