Has anyone ever rec'd USPS package EMPTY😳

3 weeks ago or so I ordered from Amazon a bottle of Philosphy Inner Grace perfume from a secondary vendor - His & Hers

Well, today the package was delivered by USPS in a mailer bag which was pretty banged up.  Inside it was filled with peanuts & directions to return product if necessary.

Well there was nothing but these items in bag. I took pics and sent to vendor. The vendor is requesting the letter the PO gave me re: missing product -- how or why would the PO know the package was empty.

im wondering has anyone else had this scenario?image.jpeg

Re: Has anyone ever rec'd USPS package EMPTY😳

I haven't had an issue with anything like that from the post office, but quite a long time ago I had an item I ordered from QVC and delivered by UPS arrive empty.

It was a similar mailer to the one you got, but the larger size.  It was supposed to have contained a cosmetic case by Bare Minerals.  The envelope was open all across the top (not damaged, just open) and it was blatantly obvious there was nothing in it!  Why the delivery guy even left it on my porch is beyond me (we're very rural and secluded, no way anyone tampered with it here).

I immediately called QVC and told them what had happened and they sent out a replacement by overnight and took the matter up with UPS.

If you don't get any satisfaction from the vendor, I'd make sure to notify Amazon.  They always ask for packaging feedback on anything I've ordered through them, and they should also guarantee items sold by their vendors.

Good luck.

Yes!!!  It has happened twice  in all the years I have been ordering....and that's a LOT of years, LOL!  Once, about 10 years ago it was suppose to be a Newsworthy skirt from QVC.  I couldn't believe the postman actually delivered it without putting a notation on pkg!.  Nothing in it, very obvious!!  QVC took care of it.  It looked like it had been thru heck...seriously.  Tire marks, a hole!!!

Then the second time it was a box from Neiman.  Small box that was suppose to have a jar of Sisley cream.  That iwas not chump change either!!! About 380 bucks at the time. Neiman made it good. But, it took a while as they filed a report.  The SA went to bat for me, and they sent me a new cream!!  During the first conversationwith  the SA I ordered from, she  didn't outwardly express her suspicions.  But, I came away with the thought that things " can disappear in the packaging room.  The sales associate told me she knows the cream went up, because she takes the product there with an order and packaging slip she prints out.  She places products in box, and packaging staff takes over from there to get it ready to mail. During a Beauty Event  there are hunreds of boxes to be mailed, loaded with free gifts and goodies.  The UPS and post office pick the packages up there at Neiman's once a day.  She did tell me once , because I got to know her well over 12 years, free samples and gifts go missing all the time from packaging room.

3 years ago I  a refund delayed until I called Coach asking about my refund.  They said it was  because my product was NOT in my return box. First I told them, it was in the box, but when were you going to tell me this.  They said they wait until the customer inquires.   HUH???? It was a wallet from Coach, about 100 dollars.  That took a while to get refunded, close to 3 months. They finally refunded me my money.  I was so irritated!

Well for starters I can tell you that perfume is considered hazardous material. It cannot be sent 1st class mail as it is flammable. If you've ever mailed a package at the post office you probably know they ask if it contains "anything fragile, liquid, perishable or potentially hazardous such as lithium batteries or perfumes." Online this mailer would also have to answer this question & it appears they are not answering it truthfully. 1 bottle, with restrictions on the ounces, can be sent by ground transportation only. I would question the vendor as to why they are violating these regulations.

I know this doesn't answer your question about receiving an empty package but maybe it gives you an idea that the vendor may not be reputable. When items are found "loose in the mail" they are held for a short time to see if anyone claims them. You should check with your local PO & have them do a MRC (mail recovery center) search.

Have you contacted Amazon about this problem?

That is interesting!  Explains an issue I had.  I ordered a couple of those tiny hair sprays from a vendor on Amazon with free shipping.  I almost forgot I had ordered when I received an email from the vendor that they were sorry, but USPS returned the hairspray to them, and they are not allowed to send it through mail, and they were pulling their listing.  I thought this so odd, as I received another brand hairspray that week from another vendor on Amazon.  I thought they must be newbies or not too bright about their business if they didn't know how to mail their own product.

I've never heard of this happening but I'm sure it could.  I'm so sorry.  Please keep us posted.

Hairspray is flammable also. Nail polish & remover, thermometers, hand sanitizers, paints, aerosol cans,etc... I'll bet almost everyone on these boards has received these items & they were mailed illegally.
