I would also remark on the 'the weed of our day was nowhere near as potent as the weed now', from experience.
Ok, I think I mentioned I smoked weed through the 70s, 80s, and 90s. There was all kind of weed - super super strong to just strong, for the most part.
As I mentioned in a previous post in this thread, we got just wasted on ONE hit of some weed, before graduation and that was in 1972. It wasn't the first time I'd seen anything that strong.
Now - FF to 2017-2018 - weed is legal where I live and in Dec I went to one of the dispensaries here in town and got some. I live in pain every day and have frequent anxiety. Sure, I hope it would help with those and, what the heck, getting a buzz isn't the worst thing. I'm home 99% of the time, as I don't work anymore. I put in 35 years and then my physical challenges started.
I'll tell ya - the first time I decided to try it again I was a little freaked out. It's a whole different deal, being over 60, than it was all those years before. I am not sure why. It just felt funny, going in. It was more of just me being much older than when I last smoked, I guess.
I didn't have to worry about anything as I sure as heck wasn't going anywhere. I've found that two hits (I got this tiny glass-blown bowl from the store when I bought the weed) is usually about right to kind of interrupt the sensor between the brain and SOME of my pain. I have a decent buzz but I find that if I give it a second I collect myself and I'm not spaced out. I can do stuff around the house, pay bills, do stuff that takes thinking and calculating - no problem.
Three hits and I'm pretty high! Don't feel any pain, though! ![]()
There are a zillion choices. I think the one I chose was fairly high in THC content. They varied from much lower, though. The only difference is that there is vastly more variety.
Fortunately, I was always a very responsible person so I would not even consider going anywhere off my own property if I've smoked. You pretty much come down within 2 hours, btw.
We all have different responsibilities and different perameters so it continues, just like any other drug or with alcohol, to fall to us to do the right thing. ![]()

@chickenbuttJust noticed and read your post. Thank you for the invaluable information because one never really knows what their future holds and if they'll need to seek this out too.

The thread comes to a halt when those who consider the possible problems with people coming to work after smoking pot or having a drink are called hysterical.
Oh, and the every popular, "uninformed".

I would hope that nobody takes my posts as arguing or anything like that, including the OP. I appreciate hearing thoughts and I enjoy sharing my experiences, too. ![]()
They first opened the dispensaries last July1 and it actually took me until Dec 7 to go to one. Not really for much of any reason than I wanted to wait until there weren't crowds (I don't like crowds EVER!) and then I broke my arm badly so I couldn't drive anyway, and the next thing I knew it was Dec and I really wanted to check it out.
There are such strict laws around it and it's a very sophisticated operation. You first walk into the first door and there are windows (like bank teller type windows). You go to one and give them your ID. You MUST do this to show your age and where you live. Then they give it back and tell you go to through another door, then a person meets you and takes you through ANOTHER door and you are in the dispensary and they give you a representative to help you.
They were very nice so it's not even like if you don't have a medical card they would treat you differently. They were really awesome, kind, and helpful!

You brought up a good point. Some states are refusing medical MJ while many people are suffering. It's amazing to me that medical MJ can help control serious seizures in children.

How do they know what and how much to give to you when it's medical MJ?

I'm just hoping to see the 'Reefer Madness' stigma dies out soon and people are able to go with facts. I feel awful for people for whom having the substance for various health issues and are not able to get it, even with a medical card/rx.
This shouldn't be a schedule 2 or is it 1 (not sure) drug. I was in pharmacy a long time ago and I know what kind of drugs are schedule 2 and 1, and these are a zillion miles from what weed is.

That I don't know, because I don't have a medical card. I just purchased it sans med card, as I don't have medical care anyway, outside of the orthopaedic care I had during my broken arm situation.
I imagine the card just lets you in, or especially did so before recreational became legal. Then you decide what and how much you wish to purchase. It's not like a pharmacy, in that regard. ![]()
