I've read that we dream every night but don't remember. I have dreams that are a continuation of what was going on that day. Sometimes it's an answer to a problem, sometimes a sense of relief or closure. If it turns into a nightmare I usually wake up in a little bit of a panic until I realize it was a dream. Being a social worker I've seen, heard, smelled unimaginable things related to cases. What's as bad or worse, ufortunately, is that some of the dreams dredged up memories of the tyrants and miscreants who had the power to make you or break you.

Yes.  I retired from a very stressful job over 7 years ago.  I occasionally have a dream about it, my co-workers, the feelings, etc.   Always happy to wake up!!
