Another reason we NEVER go to the movies. Better to rent or buy!

I don't think it's right for parents of young ones to expect their children to be quiet and well behaved at a movie theater, especially when the movie is for adults. If they DO take young ones, they should leave when the child starts behaving in a way that negatively affects the rest of the paying customers.
ITA!! I cannot understand how the parents wouldn't be self-conscious or embarrassed by this! I would never want to disturb others in the theater like this!

I have very little patience for that type of situation, and probably would have said something to the parents, but I understand your reasons for not doing so. However, I definitely would have complained to management, asked them to first say something to the couples to give them an opportunity to correct the problem, but then definitely asked for a refund. Movies these days, even without refreshments, are far too expensive to tolerate an unpleasant atmosphere. You had a right to see the movie in an environment where you can enjoy it, and the movie theater has a certain obligation to provide that. Even though they cannot control the parents actions, they do have the authority to ask those couples to leave if they are making the viewing experience unpleasant for other customers. I'm sure you weren't the only ones bothered by those noisy children. To be sure it is not the children's fault, they are just being kids. The fault lies completely with the parents that put their own needs first with no regard for the other patrons. It is a sad social commentary when you have to hope for a good experience when going out to a movie, rather than it being the norm.

I don't go to theatres anymore, between patrons chatting on their phones and other equally annoying behavior, I'm done with it.......

Also, dirty seats etc. The volume is too loud for me.

Last time we went to the movies there was a couple with an infant in a stroller but fortunately the baby slept through the entire movie. We were truly amazed and very grateful. We too thought the volume was too loud.....louder than usual.

Recently I had an incident at a morning show where a whole brigade of Mommies, babies, toddlers and strollers were present. I was given a rain check. The manager on duty said they have problems with groups of mothers and small children frequently but there isn't much they can do about it. He said another theater in the chain asked mothers to quiet their children numerous times and eventually told them they'd have to leave. The mothers went to a local TV station and picketed the theater. The parent company said they could not afford bad publicity so pretty much said it's easier to refund money.
Another case of the patients running the asylum.

If the baby in the stroller was in the aisle that was a violation and the fire marshall would have said so.

Years ago, went to an afternoon movie-couple came in with a baby..
Yep, baby was noisy throughout the first 45 min or so, finally a guy stood up and yelled at the top if his lungs "Will you shut that kid up????"
Parents got the hint, started to walk out and the whole theater started clapping..We went to the manager after the movie and got our money back plus passes.
2 weeks ago, a couple brought in a small dog in a carrier (Paris Hilton wanabees?)
Dog was quieter than most kids though..no complaints about him.
Remember the song by The Doors "People Are Strange"?

KEY LEARNING: Never go to movie theaters. Stream or rent movies somehow!
The last time I was in a theater, I vowed NEVER AGAIN.
