They CHOSE that path knowing full well that for the last 10 years that they can't get a high paying job right out of college. They were not willing to go to cheaper colleges or not go at all. So many successful people have done well through hard work! They wanted that experience so know you have to pay for it. ANY job out there that requires a degree can be done on budget.
I gave the stats for a public state college. The cost of a four year education is (at minimum) $100,000.00
And that's if you can do it in four years, what with cutbacks for required courses.
we did it for two for less than that -- I am using some of the remaining fund for classes now and saving the rest for more (MBA or whatever).
Yep! it can be done.

Yes, it's toxic.
How dramatic. Just because someone doesn't agree with you? This is why no one comes here any more.

You cannot compare what it was like 30-40 years ago for college costs. Things have changed drastically since then. I would also offer the opinion that 30-40 years ago, people stayed at their jobs until retirement and got good pensions and benefits.
If you had a pension plan at your job, social security from the government and your savings at the bank, you could put aside money for your child's tuition. Interest rates at banks for savings were very high ~ it isn't that way anymore. Pensions are nonexistent and people put their retirement funds in Wall Street, which takes huge risks with our money ~ and they never paid for those risks.
It is a totally different world ~ I would say it was a slow change that really started to show the effects around the turn of the century ~ a bit here, a bit there. It is really apparent now and that is why there is crushing debt. One cannot even reasonably compare 15 years ago to today. Different world.

Well, it looks like this has been a popular thread, with 189 replies.
I haven't read them, but my short answer is, they target older customers because the youngsters still have the energy to go out brick and mortar shopping.
I don't have that kind of energy anymore
so I shop at home, on TV and online.

How did a thread about QVC's target customer turn into a thread on higher education? Wait, don't answer. I know. Threads are fluid.
And by the way, speaking of education, could we all agree not to say "I could care less" ever again.
Oh, before I forget, lots of us don't come here much anymore for a lot of reasons that if stated, would turn this place nuclear.
Thank you for understanding, or not.
