Things seem to be working out just fine now and for me that was the perfect solution.
You have to finally 'get it' that holding onto grudges deteriorates your quality of life, not the other person's. When you can really grasp that, you'll make the necessary shifts in your thinking.
I wish you the very best of luck in your forgiveness journey.
This is a wonderful post and thank you for your good wishes. I think the "withholding mercy" really speaks to me and the teachings of my faith.
Thank you everybody who posted, I think I want to choose "giving mercy". I just need to try harder.![]()

JUST move on.....
Yeah that is what forgiveness is all about.

After many years, I came to realize that holding on to anger is extremely oppressive. It wears you down. Forgiveness is letting go of that. It lightens your load and helps you to seize the day. It really is selfish, but in a healthy way. Forgetting, on the other hand, doesn't go along with it. It too is selfish, in that it acts as a protective mechanism. Gives you more experience in recognizing and avoiding future hurt.

I think it depends on the individual. I believe in forgiveness and always have. I am not one to hold grudges. For me it's a choice and I choose not to be that person that is angry and carries baggage that would only hurt me.

Interesting to see certain posters say they forgive or move on but then they're the ones that never miss a chance to drag around grudges & bring up their ""forgiven"" grudges against posters from thread to thread.........

Current nostrums for self-help say to let go of anger.
It is not time to let go of anger until ... the time has come. Major betrayals and violent acts occur daily. How is it sensible for strangers to tell people to forget what has happened? It's psychobabble pure and simple.
Life-acquired wisdom teaches people if and when it is time to let go.

What I do is.. If I knew I was going to die, would I give the contention another thought. If the answer is no, I move on. If the answer is yes, I'd deal with it head on.
I do not allow anyone to have that kind of power over me. I let it go. However, If I'm wronged in a big way, I'm done with that person and I move on. Sometimes its really hard, but I come out better and happier, I also learn a life lesson from the experience.

FORGIVING is the first step to letting go....... If you can't forgive, it will eat you up.......
