Love your unique gift ideas!!  Not to be a dunce here but could you explain how this is played? I only did this one time and everything was wrapped...and I forget how we even got gifts passed around LOL!  And you never knew what was in anything until the end and people were taking gifts from others many times over.

Perhaps the rules are all different depending on who hosts it?

@tsavorite

We drew numbers from 1-20.  I had #8, so I was the 8th person to pick.  During my turn, I could have picked a new, wrapped gift, or I could have chosen to steal from someone who had numbers 1-7.  Then my turn was over.  #9 went next, and could have stolen from me or the others from 1-8.  The hosts set the limit one item could be stolen to three times.  If #9 had stolen from me, I would have had the chance to steal from someone else or open a new gift before person #10 got to pick.  If I wanted my gift back, I could have stolen it, and in the rest of the game that item could only be stolen one more time.

Does that make sense?

This was the worst gift.

When the person who brought it had his turn, he stole it back because he felt badly once he saw the "good" gifts. Cat Embarassed

You put a lot of thought and care into those gifts.  I have only been to two White Elephant holiday parties and they weren't like yours.  The gifts were humerous/silly joke type gifts.  There were lots of laughs.  I think I would not have wanted to give up that Nutcracker!

The host is a self professed nerd (works with computers and has decorated the house with Star Wars) and he has a tribe of nerds from HS.

This was one of their gifts, which got stolen.

One of the popular "stolen" gifts, which at one point belonged to BF was something like this.  Since he's not a computer nerd he can't remember the brand nor the name.

It's an overlay that goes on a tablet to allow for a keyboard.  He didn't think it was anything that plugged in, just a sheet.

@dex

I'm working up to it. Cat Wink

We're trying to remember all of the gifts, because the "traditional" gifts that you think of for a white elephant weren't there (probably because of the high percentage of nerds, LOL).  Mine, for example, was the ONLY gift with alcohol. Cat Surprised

This gift was stolen a lot, and BF wanted it but it got stolen from him twice.

This was another gift but we don't remember any excitement associated with it.

This did not get stolen, but the person who got it seemed happy enough.
