No, I wouldn't give him cash unless this becomes a regular occurrence.  Then I would set up some sort of schedule and payment just like any other professional help.

He might be insulted by cash. He was trying to do a good deed. Bringing over some cookies or something else you bake or buy might be a nice gesture. A simple thank you might also suffice.

Cash or a very general gift card (like Amazon) would be best.  I wouldn't bake anything, not knowing what that person's dietary preferences are.  Your baked food could end up in the trash.

Best answer:  A gift card.  Too many people now are on some sort of eating plan to give out baked stuff.

An Amazon gift card is perfect along with a nice note.

I see nothing wrong with a little cash and a gift card, both! Cat Very Happy

He may be trying to start a small business and this type of encouragement would be a bonus.

You never know...

I would suggest a VISA gift card and let him pick where he prefers to go.

Such a kind neighbor you have.  Definitely give him a gift card, not cash. Because he offered to clean out your beds, does he like to garden also?  A gift card to a local nursery would be a good gift if he does garden. Amazon, coffee shop cards are all great suggestions too.

I would do something he can enjoy now and later -  cookies/brownies/bread and a thank you note with a  gift card (ie amazon, local eatery) enclosed.

It's always nice to show appreciation and respect for a person's time. I would not wait until next year.  I am sure he did it out of kindness, not expecting anything but, it's the right thing to do.  (to reciprocate some kind of kindness back).

My Dad regularly used his snow thrower on the neighbors' walkways.  They love it.  A nice note with a gift card to either a local place or amazon would show up in the mailbox.  He in no way expected anything, but people really appreciated his help.

I don't like the visa gift cards.  The policies on those are so weird.  That's the only kind of gift card I wouldn't give.
