Maybe you should give people the benefit of the doubt? Many of us are using it in the hopes that this feature will be 'turned on'.  It will be  a great way to notify people that their post has been responded to.

@Hi Adelina-I don't know if the @ feature is working yet. In some situations I use the hearts as a way to notify someone I have responded to their post. We'll just see if it works now @Adelina

I got a notification from one of the moderators on a thread in the Suggestion Box that I was posting on.  I think it's working for the moderators but not for us.  The moderator said they were working on it.
