I know how it's used for Twitter but does it do something special here?

Is it like tagging posters or something

One of the mods used it with my nic earlier today. I got a notification, like the heart one, that she had responded to my question, @newziesuzie.

I was guessing it has something to do with tagging which I really don't quite understand, but that was just a wild guess.

I would like to know what it's for and what it does too.

@newziesuzie  i believe when you use it on the boards you will get a notification that someone responded directly to you. you should see it via your NOTIFICATIONS area next to your user name.....top right of the forums.

Someone tested that on me today and it didn't notify me.  I haven't figured it out yet either.  @ to whoever does!
