Re: What's Up For The 4th of July?

Hi NoelHeart I'm going to my SIL's house. My BIL will grill some meat and her and I will fix sides and desserts.

We will go to the store Friday afternoon and pick the menu from the sales. I already have what I need to make Chocolate Truffle Bundt Cake and Caramel Apple Cake.

Re: What's Up For The 4th of July?

We will do whatever we decide that day. (We are having family over tomorrow i.e. Wednesday for an Italian dinner anyway).

We don't make a big deal out of any holidays except for Christmas. And the kids/grand kids will be at their pool all day on the 4th for games, food, and such.

Also, my husband has to go for his routine colonoscopy the Monday after, so he won be over eating Saturday or else. (If you get my drift on the colon test..lol.).

Re: What's Up For The 4th of July?

We get everything we need into the house.  Then we avoid going anywhere.  This is the height of the tourist season here.  I have, in the past, ventured out to the fireworks but it is not worth it.  Too crowded and too buggy.

Taxy, I hear you about the fireworks.  It can be too much.

We never get to see them here, it's always foggy.

Re: What's Up For The 4th of July?

I've made these for the past couple of years on the 4th.  They're cheesecake stuffed strawberries.  Just hallow them out, pipe in a little whipped cheesecake flavored cream cheese (of whatever kind you like), and top with a blueberry.

There is a recipe if needed:
