Re: What 'modern conveniences' do you live without?

I don't live without them, as they came with the house, but I don't use the microwave or dishwasher.

An efficient dishwasher saves water over hand washing dishes, important to those of us in states with water shortages. I used to hand wash all of my dishes, even with a dishwasher in the house, but I now use the dishwasher. I don't wash after every meal (or even every day) -- full loads, minimal rinsing before loading. Of course, there are still items I hand wash, but the bulk of it goes in the machine now.

Must live without a lot of them since I don't know about them. Smiley Wink  I don't even use my dishwasher.

My aunt gave me a food processor once...I finally donated it about 10 years later to Goodwill, still in the original box.

Re: What 'modern conveniences' do you live without?

I am not from the 19th century lol..so I want to utilize the conveniences or necessities from our time.

I do not have a Garage Door Opener as we don't have a Garage...and I don't have a outside ice maker on the fridge but we have on on the inside.

The rest - it available and we are using it: Central A/C, furnace heat, dishwasher, HD TV, DVR/DVD, game systems (for the kids), Smartphones, tablets, kindles, laptops and even desk tops.  We have Wifi, Internet.. GPS stand alone, on the car and on my phone, pool..a/c in the car. Yes I remember the days when it was a option..an option we ALWAYS got lol.. MIcrowave, even convection on the stand alone/stove/oven..

I remember when the microwaves first came out..99 bucks for a small one lol..I remember our first VCR..Montgomery Ward had the cheapest...$449..and everybody in town got them...I remember when cordless phones and answering machines were "keeping up with the Jones" to some lol...

I think it depends on the person..some like modern conveniences and technology..and others don't.. I don't do the I stuff..my daughter loves her Iphone..I like the Android..!  I think the cell phone is great. I wish they had them when I was a teen..heck back then call waiting would of been a great asset. My dad had to have the phone free at night while waiting for a call regarding his job for the following day..boy-oh-boy if I didn't get in trouble all the time for that bleep..bleep..bleep busy signal..and the ole Party Line lol saved me often.

Re: What 'modern conveniences' do you live without?

About the only thing I can think of is a water dispenser in/on my fridge and that was by choice.  We have a newer fridge but I hate the look of a dispenser on a french door fridge so that was an easy pass.  We had the option of getting a water dispense inside the fridge but once I found out you have to change the filter every 6 months to a year to the tune of $50.00, I knew I'd not spend the money so we passed.  We do have the automatic ice maker but if we didn't, I wouldn't care.  It was about 6 months or more before DH even hooked that up.  LOL

I could never go without a/c because while I may struggle through being uncomfortable, I refuse to make my dogs be miserable.
