@Blahblahvampemer  With all due respect, have you known people who contracted the virus? I know 5. Four died and one is hospitalized and will most likely recover. She couldn’t take the headache anymore. This virus is nothing like the flu. R0 (reproduction rate) is many times higher than influenza. The case fatality rate (CFR) will also be higher than the flu, by a minimum of several times (more data study will be needed). The flu’s CFR is 0.1. Even if Covid’s CFR ends up being 0.5, as some scientists think, that is 5 times more deadly than the flu, a disease for which there is currently a vaccine and a therapeutic.

Also, “mild” symptoms don’t always mean mild symptoms. In many instances, “mild” symptoms mean you feel the worst you’ve ever felt in your life, in some cases, for a prolonged period of time. It can be recovering from pneumonia at home. It’s also being discovered that younger people are having strokes, about 5% of cases from what I read. For those who have no or truly mild symptoms, well they lucked out! But, they can also spread it to someone (or many someones, getting back to R0) who may not be as lucky.  As for herd immunity, at least 60-70% (maybe more?) of people will have to contract the virus in order for that to happen. I’m interested to see an antibody study with good specifity to see how far we really are. We are not nearly there yet, not even in hard hit NYC. I’m in North Jersey.

I get that everyone is frustrated because freedom has been infringed upon.  But for the most part, we are adults and we should be able to accept this and handle this, not act like a bunch of irresponsible children.  Do I want to go about my normal life, go where I want, do what I want, with no rules, restrictions, masks, etc.????  Sure!!!!! But I don't want to disregard my health and selfishly the health of others to ignore what is going on and just say --- oh, well, I don't care --- it's probably not going to get me!

So many people are devoting their lives to care for people who are very sick and people who are dying of this.  So many people are working in industries and jeopardizing their safety to provide needed services while all of this is going on.

What good does it do to picket and protest in large crowds - unprotected ---- voicing and showing your disgust and disapproval at not being allowed to go to the beach and other places, etc.?  This is only causing the numbers of the virus to increase.  Is this really so hard to understand????  

I understand that people need to work and need to have an income and this needs to be figured out but a lot of this other stuff is not necessary at this time.  

I would say the least we could do is try to wear masks, avoid crowds, and use our common sense right now.

Your rights end where mine begin!!!  No one has the right to randomly yell fire in a crowded building just because and it's been proven no one has the right to even joke about bombs in a security line at the airport!!  Why would anyone want to risk their life and those of their loved ones to go to the beach, gym, beauty salon, party, etc.  or do those things that don't matter.  What good is making money if their loved ones are gone!???  Saying 85% survival rate is ok if the virus only hits a few here and there  but common sense shows that the numbers dying are staggering since it is spread so rapidly and there are way too high numbers dying.  Just look at all the dead bodies in refrigerated trucks waiting to be buried.  It takes just exposure to one person from an area of high infection visiting a less populated area to spread it in an area that does not have access to large hospitals!  It's disturbing to see so many selfishly wanting their businesses to open at the expense of others - especially their families!!

I don't think anyone ever died from not getting a haircut or nails done, or not going to the gym, etc.  This stuff is all nice and makes life better and makes us look and feel better, but we can all wait for this stuff.  It's great to go to a restaurant and have a nice meal, go to the movies, to the beach and sporting events, concerts, and amusement parks, but I'd rather stay home, save my life, my family's lives, and the lives of friends and complete strangers.  I feel deeply, my heart aches for people who need to work, who need their income, and the government needs to work on this harder to figure this out ---- quicker-- now.  We are treading uncharted waters.

There were large protests with hundreds of people on one of the main roads in my area.  Most people were not wearing masks and had small children hanging out together.  Some were even infants.

I completely understand that people are in dire need of work and having a hard time making ends meet.  However, I can't understand how anyone would want to open things up and get back to normal knowing what we know.  The virus spreads like wildfire.  Hundreds/thousands of people are dying each and every day.  We are ALL at risk, no matter your age.  This is something unlike we have ever experienced before.  It's selfish and ignorant to go out there unprotected and put other people's lives at risk. 

I just don't know about anything anymore.  It's disturbing to see these peope laughing, joking around, and waving American flags like this is some joke.

What is the price of a single human life that could have been saved but wasn't because of someone else's sense of entitlement? What is the worth of those 15% who do get sick or die?

What other current communicalble disease has a 5% death rate?

People who are protesting are selfish.  The CDC and expert epidemiologists say up to 25% of the population could be carriers.  No one knows if they are a carrier.  Those who are protesting stay at home orders and those who are so anxious to get back to 'normal' are only thinking of themselves.  It's not all about the individual.
