Re: What are some of your best money saving tips for 2015?

I will not be buying anything unless it's a need and not a want. So far, I've only spent my Christmas gift cards and I bought winter clothes and a coat with a hood that I needed. I will be trying to pay a little more each month on my CC's (owe less than $2500 on 3 cards). I'm even going extreme on food purchases, just pretty much buying the basics. I'm excited and hope I can carry it through. I do have 2 more easy pays both are under $30 for 2 pairs of Isaac Mizrahi mid-high boots.

Don't go into stores and if I do, stick to my list.

Don't shop for entertainment.

If I buy something, get rid of something.

Shop around (if I need anything) and compare prices.

Perhaps shop in bulk for certain items ie. paper goods.

Just because it is on sale, does not mean I need it.

Hi! Thanks for the idea (love to come up with variety!). I hadn't even though of cream soups, because my mind automatically goes to cream of mushroom, etc. But there are some that are nice (for eating, not cooking of course. hehe).

Can't use a straw while this is healing, though. That's on the list of don't-dos.

I'm mostly doing broths, tomato soup, chicken noodle soup (you get like 3 tiny pieces of chicken in a can and the noodles are extremely soft so I've been able to do that), and the Frostys. Now I added Cream of Wheat and I got some sugar-free pudding. Lots of tea and as much water as I can manage (which isn't much lately!). I use small spoons for the soups and I drink the broth. I also have some V-8. I love nice, cold V-8.

I'm thinking I can add brown rice soon so I plan to make up some of that. I'm ready for this to be over. Smiley Happy I guess it was overly-optimistic to expect to have a super fast (like 2-3 days would have been nice. heh) healing time after those four BIG shots, having my gum cut open, and two seemingly violent (those are big teeth back there!) extractions. I think I'm on the up-swing, though. Finally did have to give in and take some pain meds at 2:00 so I'm starting to feel pretty decent again. Was hoping today was the day I could not have to take anything, at least until night time. Maybe tomorrow.

Start a Christmas club savings account in January!

My husband has been doing this through his account for a number of years. We really enjoy that. The even cooler part of it is that we just stopped buying each other gifts, a few years ago (after a while you've pretty much given every gift, eh?), and so he gives me half and he takes half. We each do whatever we want with our respective halves.

He doesn't put back a lot but it really adds up! We usually each get $350 to $400 every year. That's a fun bit of money to get.

Pay attention to ur insurance --- homeowners, auto, etc. Check out other companies on-line and get their quotes. Different companies charge different amounts for the same coverage. Also, if ur driving less than in the past, you will get a lower premium. You may also want to raise ur deductibles.

"It's not a bargain if you don't need it".

If you are going shopping with a friend, take cash. Take what you can afford and only use your cash.

For some crazy reason, it is harder to let go of the real green than using even your debit card. And you don't have to keep track of what you are spending.

I will watch all my spending. Buy only needs. Pay down or pay off entirely a credit card. Less money lost in interest. I paid off two credit cards last year and now I'm working on doing the same with the third. I feel good about that.

Every evening you come home empty your coins into a can or bowl and keep adding to it.

Invest in your 40lK funds from your jobs.

Invest in IRAs, especially Roth IRAs.
