A two bedroom, 1 bath box home in southern CA for $23,100 in 1974.  I worried how we'd meet the mortgage payment.  It seemed like a small fortune🤑

Built a new home in 1978 for $65,000. The interest rate was ridiculously high.

Our first home was a row home in Philadelphia that we purchased for $8,750 and sold it 9 years later for $11,000 lol.  Now they are called town houses and mine was recently sold for around $85,000.  This was back in 1961.

Bought 3 bedroom 2 bath split level in SC for $36,750 in 1974.  We divorced and sold within 3 years of that date.

in baltimore, we STILL call them row homes, especially the older ones.....some with marble steps.

I bought a two bedroom, one bath row home when I was single in 1993 for 85,000.  My friend's mother was born in the same house before it had indoor plumbing!

Thanks for the great answers!

Ours was a 3/2 slump block w/carport in Phoenix for $68,000.  This was in the 80's and DH was active duty Army.  We only stayed for 2 years but still keep in touch with our neighbors, loved them!  Absolutely hated going through the sale process.

@FancyPhillyshopper  ....... I am so jealous of your house! Love the older homes. If you ever get a chance would you please post a picture of the outside. I like letting my imagination run wild thinking about the people that have lived in them.
