Me too. I thought it was very clever and well written.

Re: What Are You Reading --- November 2014

I finished Iron Lake by William Kent Krueger. It was the first book in his Cork O'Connor series. It was pretty good, and I really like the northern Minnesota setting. I'll probably read the next one. Most of the reviews say they get better.

Also read Sunshine On Scotland Street by Alexander McCall Smith, that was delightful, as usual. I wish there were more of these. Bertie's Guide To Life And Mothers is coming out in a Kindle version next year. Strangely, a paperback version can be ordered from Amazon, but there is no version of the book available at my library.

I have his other book on waitlist at the library, The Handsome Man's De Luxe Cafe.

Now I'm reading the 2nd in the Amelia Peabody series, The Curse of the Pharaohs by Elizabeth Peters.

I also have Holly Blues by Susan Wittig Albert on my Kindle. It's one of the China Bayles series that I missed.

Re: What Are You Reading --- November 2014

I finished 3 books recently: "THE JOB" by Janet Evanovich (#3 in her new series - very cute), "THE CINDERELLA MURDERS" by Mary Higgins Clark (a lesser quality sequel to "I'VE GOT YOU UNDER MY SKIN") and "PRIVATE: INDIA" by James Patterson, which dragged a bit. I'm reading Patrick Taylor's new Irish Country Doctor novel, "AN IRISH DOCTOR IN PEACE AND AT WAR", and enjoying the peace segments much more than the war chapters. I've got "HOPE TO DIE", the new Alex Cross book by James Patterson waiting for me at the library.

Has anyone read ALL THE LIGHT WE CANNOT SEE by Anthony Doerr? I placed a library hold on the Kindle edition. It looks good!

Hi. Yes, I read it & enjoyed it. I know that's not a very detailed reply, but I'd hate to tell you too much. I'm assuming you know it's a WWII epic-style book? And there's a mystery involved, too. I found it pretty engrossing.

I gave up on it after about 100 pages. I'll have to give it another try.

I learned a lot. Like him or not, he is a former history teacher and it was fascinating. It talks a about many of the world leaders at the time as well as stories of enlisted men of the U.S., Germany and Russia.

Just finished Alysia Abbott's Fairyland ( nf) about a girl who loses her mother at a very young age and is brought up by her bi-sexual father who eventually dies of AIDS. Very emotional book but I loved it.

Going to start Miranda Beverly-Whittemore's Bittersweet.

Hope you like Bittersweet - I really enjoyed it!

I've added to my TBR list ( since amazon has them both on sale now) I can't resist when they lower the prices
