The New York State Thruway E-Z Pass Department is outsourced to a private company that (I think) is on L.I.
I had serious issues with them when I commuted 90 miles each way to work on the Thruway. They so messed up my account, I had to go to my state assemblyman and it ended up in a front page article in the paper - MANY people had problems with the company.
Today I went on'line to update my CC - I had to get a new one due to the Home Depot situation a few months ago. I hadn't used the website in years, so I pressed the prompt to remember by password.
I got a message that they would send me an e-mail and instructions on how to update my account in "a couple of days."
First of all - a couple of days - doesn't even sound like good English. Secondly, how backward is a system where you can't get a new password for DAYS????
Minor vent...Thanks for listening...
Anyone else have issues with outsourced staff???

Don't you keep a list of accounts with passwords?

I tried everything I could think of. I haven't accessed that account online in 8 years.

I need those EZ pass statements as part of my job and sometimes they arrive too late to be used. Then the next month, they are on time. Your information has explained why things seem so messed up.

By ""L.I."" do you mean Long Island? Sorry if that's a silly question.

I keep my passwords in a notebook in a desk drawer.
What is wrong with the words, in a couple of days?

Yes, that's the abbreviation.

I think you may be thinking of the 'other island'-- Staten Island. We had a problem at one of the toll tunnels with the pass not reading properly and we had to return it back to them in Staten Island.
Call them tomorrow morning and hopefully it will be straightened out.

You may be right...I had my major problems with them years ago.
I used to think they were civil servants...they aren't.
It's outsourced to a third party provider. Their call center is the WORST!

When I saw the word "outsourced," I read your entry, which, given my DH's experience in Silicon Valley re the real honest to goodness "outsourcing," which made me wonder why all the hoopla.
Long Island is not Nogales, Mexico. Keep your passwords in a safe but easily retrievable place. I keep mine in the inside pocket of my Kindle cover.
