Well it seams I just let March get away! Thank you as always to Lainey! Here's what I've read -
I finished the 3rd book in The Clifton Chronicles, BEST KEPT SECRET. I guess the secret wasn't such a secret because I've already forgotten what the book was about!
A NATURAL WOMAN:A MEMOIR by Carole King. Enjoyed it and love her music.
SHATTERED PALMS (Lei Crime Series) by Toby Neal. Love this series
THE PERFUME COLLECTOR by Kathleen Tessaro - really enjoyed this
MEANT TO BE (ANCHOR Island) - a fast read and it was OK
Now reading HOME TO STAY, another Anchor Island story.
Hope you all have a wonderful April!

Good book.

I'm getting ready to start Larry McMurtry's The Last Picture Show, the first book in his Texasville series. I didn't realize it was part of a series. From what I've read in the summary, each book will focus on the characters in this first novel. This is my first time reading McMurtry, and I don't think I saw the movie either. But it sounds good with a genre and setting I've been interested in recently.
4/13/2014 DNF this one. I wish I had known more about this book before I started reading it. What I did read, it was a waste of my time. So many people adore McMurtry -- this was my first of his, and I will not be going for any more.

Finished Sue Monk Kidd's The Invention of Wings. For such a riveting subject (Southern slavery and the early days of the Abolitionist Movement in the North in the 1820-30's), I thought I would get deeply involved and moved but it never happened. I don't think she did justice to the real people in the story and her made up characters were too stereotypical.
Back to The Cuckoo's Calling.

Wow, Netflix is sending The Book Thief for tomorrow. Can't believe it-this morning it said long wait, next thing you know it's coming tomorrow. Thought I'd cut to the chase and see the movie, not read the book. Just couldn't make up my mind.

Reading Lucia Lucia by Adriana Trigiani and thoroughly enjoying this book. I read the Big Stone Gap series by this author several years ago and loved those books also!

I have The Invention of Wings on my Kindle but after reading a few reviews, and especially the one by Linders Back, I'm just going to pass on it.
I read The Returned by Jason Mott. There are a lot of differences from the TV show, but if the series does well, I can see where they can get more plot points from the book as they go along. I can't say I liked the book. I ended up skimming a lot of it.
Also read Orphan Train by Christina Baker Cline. It was very interesting subject matter. I had no idea about this period in our history.
I finished The Unbearable Lightness of Scones by Alexander McCall Smith, the 5th in the 44 Scotland Street Series. It was enjoyable, as usual.
I'm now reading The Outcast Dead by Elly Griffiths. I just adore this author and her style of writing and love the characters.

I just finished Still Life with Bread Crumbs by Anna Quindlen and enjoyed it very much - plus it's a quick read.
I am excited about the sequel to the Cuckoo's Calling - really enjoyed that book and was surprised to hear it was JK Rowling under a pseudonym.
Gold Finch - If that book had been edited by someone who was willing to cut out about 200 pages, it would have been a GREAT book instead of an OK book. Much too long.
I'm just starting May We Be Forgiven by A M Homes and am part way through the Genjie and the Golum by Helene Wecker. Two completely different story lines, but each enjoyable in their own way.
