According to the statement by her family she died quietly in her sleep at age 86. Very sad but not shocking. RIP Dr. Angelou.

to die in your sleep at 86, after a long successful well lived life, we should all go like that.

I just talked to a lady who just turned 86 today still vibrant , hoping for the same for me

Her writing style left nothing to the imagination. I could not finish the Caged Bird book as it was too raw. She definitely left her mark in the literary world. I respect her and wish her to have a glorious reward.

I only knew who she was from seeing her with Oprah a few times. R.I.P.

Maya Angelou was a refined and noble soul. Her words were so evocative and inspiring. A very special person has left the earth, that is certain.
