Around 3 years ago,  we were looking for a nightstand for my guest bedroom.  The way the bed is situated,  we just needed ONE.  Went to a few stores in the mall near us and found nothing at all.  I had some specific criteria,  within a pretty flexible range, but saw nothing.    I didn't want a mirrored top, or anything too fancy based on the room.

After our search,  we were just a few stores away from Marshall's,  so I suggested we go there.  They have a small furniture area.  I figured it was a real long shot but why not check?   They had 1 perfect nightstand that was so cool...   a beautiful natural wood and metal...  clean lines,  eclectic and very cool.   I noticed on the back it had a small scratch so I called over the manager and she reduced it by $20.  PERFECT.    To this day when I go into the room I look at the piece and smile.

YOU NEVER KNOW what you'll find.

I love Homegoods but just to kill time.

On my last trip I wanted a table runner, no luck, poor selection.

I'm also near an At Home store, it's awesome.

For something for my home I have better results waiting for a sale at Belk or Macy's, usually don't have to wait long.

@software   We have access to an At Home as well. That place is really hit or miss for me. I guess all of these stores are really. I got a really cute quilt & shams set there, for the guest room, a couple years ago.  My sister got some cute cushions for her back porch furniture at the same time.  Yesterday everything I was looking for turned out to be junk or was more expensive than Amazon and the other stores I named.  I do like walking around and browsing though, and would still return in the future.

I never use to like going there but I do now. I find it's hit or miss and if you see something you like get it, it might not be there next time you go.

I just went in there on Tuesday.  I haven't been there since December, which surprises me since I love that store.

Anyway, they had very few fall/Halloween items.  They still had a lot of summer, gardening, and 4th of July items out.  I'm going to go back in about two weeks.  I don't need anything for fall or Halloween, but I can't help myself when something catches my eye.
